especially since Special:AllMessages shows a different string to what's displayed for me when I visit that MediaWiki: namespace page -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:AllMessages?prefix=createacct-helpusername reports the text (within a wikilink) as being "(help me choose)", FWICS.

i would probably check that receiving emails from beta cluster wikis work, it might be a regression when the mailing deamon/package got changed

*ahhhh* i found where it's coming from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Wikimedia-createacct-helpusername is overridden, rather than `createacct-helpusername` itself
