[15:36:56] Hi, I tried to contact anyone in Phabricator but got nobody: It's about the task T245965 [15:36:56] T245965: Image links from #ifexist:Media:... are not being registered properly on tawiktionary - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T245965 [15:37:16] I think the change in Mediawiki software isn't good, to get file names in image link table from images, which have been filtered by the ifexist-clause in templates. So I get images in the database query result, which are not linked from the page. [15:42:48] People can take a while to reply to phab tasks, it's only been ~2 days [15:46:54] but what is your opinion about this mediawiki software change: „ParserFunctions [15:46:57] git #66f7d36e - Record #ifexist media in imagelinks table (task T245965) by TChin“ [15:46:57] T245965: Image links from #ifexist:Media:... are not being registered properly on tawiktionary - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T245965 [16:25:43] duesen: ^ the behavior that doctaxon is mentioning is happening now because of https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/extensions/ParserFunctions/+/702740/ which you merged. It sounds like there are uses for the image link table outside of MediaWiki that are not working as hoped now. Can you help determine if there is a reasonable "fix" to make both the purges and analytics use of the image table work? [18:38:58] Hi there, how do I add a link to the bar above the title of a given page (the bar where "Page", "Talk" and "Edit" appear) ? [18:39:32] I want to add a link pointing to [[Special:Redirect/page/{{PAGEID}}]] [19:34:44] adfeno: I'm not sure there's a message there [19:34:55] you may need to modify the skin / create your own one [19:35:42] might be able to do something with https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Page_status_indicators but it wouldn't show up in exactly the actions section. [19:37:20] adfeno: would a link at the left column work fo you? [19:37:23] that's simpler [19:37:36] ... I think [19:40:13] Ah, I see, you're right, [[MediaWiki:Sidebar]] also works for me. [19:40:17] Thanks for the hint. [21:00:01] subbu: not sure if related to refactoring in Parsoid, but fyi: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T287791 [21:00:17] (also is cscott on IRC? I thought he used to be.) [21:02:56] i pinged him on slack .. his irc connection is a bit flaky and he probably dropped off at some point. [21:05:01] he says: "should be fixed by https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/extensions/DiscussionTools/+/708618 ..." [21:16:11] i'm on IRC here in #mediawiki but i'm apparently banned from #mediawiki-parsoid (or at least my matrix puppet is) [21:16:50] but i commented on the gerrit patch and the phab task [21:18:41] Guest4030: try logging in and if it doesn't help we can probably exempt you from the ban in -parsoid [21:21:40] Guest4030: the matrix bridge is globally banned across all Wikimedia IRC channels. There's a specific exemption here in #mediawiki but if you want to participate in other channels you are better off doing it via a regular IRC client [21:22:53] (the bridge is unfortunately terrible at staying logged into an account, so a per-account exemption likely won't work well) [21:27:44] ugh, sorry, I didn't set the exemption in -parsoid [21:28:36] also, the bridge works just fine to stay logged in in my experience... [21:28:59] I should probably create a proper plumbed room for -parsoid [21:35:44] Guest4030: try joining #mediawiki-parsoid:matrix.org [22:09:47] Krinkle, https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T287611 is not a production error unless beta cluster errors are also tagged such. [22:11:38] subbu: we usually do, yes. unless it's very specific to beta for some reason, but that can be determined later. [22:12:49] I mean: this is specific to beta since we aren't going to release this version of parsoid to production with beta being still broken. [22:12:57] this is mainly because lots of lesser-maintained components are rather poorly triaged by their owners unless they are prod errors, and we've had too often I think that an error like this went unnoticed until days later when it hit test wikis [22:13:12] yeah, that's good :) [22:13:29] it'll help your team's metrics in terms of lowering the average response time for addressing a prod error :) [22:13:33] lol [22:13:36] ok. [22:13:51] not that your team is known for having a bad value of that metric, I didn't even think that far! [22:14:35] anyway, i was mostly clarifying that this isn't a production error ... so, people don't go around panicking about it. but, if you see value in it being tagged as such, it can stay there. [23:20:34] a *future* prod error... [23:20:42] beta is probably cheaper than using precogs [23:20:46] :D
