[10:41:07] This is going to sound silly but I can't login with my mediawiki.org account; I have the user and password but none of my 2FA devices are working - could someone help me get in again please? [10:45:26] bootc: See https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Password_and_2FA_reset#For_users [10:47:30] Vulpix: well I can't login to Phabricator to ask to have the 2FA disabled :-) [10:48:09] Oh I can login with a link, phew [10:48:24] bootc: double check your devices have their time synced properly, and if it's still broken email ca@wikimedia.org [10:49:19] Note that, when you enable 2FA, you're given scratch codes that allows you to login even if you don't have access to your 2FA device [10:49:47] You're supposed to keep them secure and use them in this situation [10:50:16] I did that years ago, I don't have any record of scratch codes - and I would definitely have saved them [10:50:45] It's odd, the login form brings up the WebAuthn/U2F prompt but I have no options for TOTP or scratch codes etc [11:00:08] It would be a good idea to reminder periodically users logging in with 2FA enabled, to check if their scratch codes are still available, and request new if necessary [11:06:08] Well I can login to Wikitech with the U2F/WebAuthn token I thought I used at WM/MW... [11:15:03] Oh I've got in: because I was using WebAuthn I couldn't login on mediawiki.org, only wikipedia.org - but I did get in on the latter [11:15:29] The "Please note that you will need to login to the same wiki where you originally registered your verification device" note on Wikitech put me on to that [11:15:40] So, I'm moving to TOTP as that's a bit crap :-/
