[07:00:10] Crazy flooding in areas of western Canada have cut us off in Vancouver from the rest of Canada. Fun times. Worse fun times for those in the interior of British Columbia though. [07:01:55] Mudslides took out many of our major highways. Thankfully folks stranded away from home are able to travel to and through the US to get back to their homes though, with just a driver's license, sans passport. [07:02:39] I guess a month's worth of rain in 24 hours will do that. [07:04:15] Over 17k displaced. 300+ rescued by helicopter off the highways by Canadian Armed Forces after spending the night in their cars. [07:04:53] Lots of checking in on family and friends living in the affected areas [07:08:20] Our supply chain was already Covid strained, things are going to be really interesting for a while. [07:23:19] damn [07:23:43] Both of our rail lines down too [07:24:11] So, port of Vancouver is stacking up with shipping containers, and 2/3 were moved via rail. [07:30:17] So far only 4 (known) fatalities though. A news camera man, off duty, got to watch the cars in front of him on the highway "just disappear" in a mudslide. Feel bad for the dude, plus I'm sure he needed a clean pair of shorts after that experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMGKXXUl79E [07:30:18] [YouTube] ⁨BC floods: Global News cameraman caught in mudslide in Pemberton⁩ | 2m 44s | Channel: ⁨Global News⁩ | 82,490 views | 2021-11-17 - 16:37:12 [07:30:28] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/912243618834702386/image0.webp [07:30:36] Some other highway damage [07:37:59] So many washouts and slides everywhere. No travel permitted unless essential right now anyhow. [07:43:16] I have friends and family that were evacuated from flooded areas. That's quite another thing. I live in the southern Interior of B.C. [07:56:21] we had a rainstorm like I've never seen here and a power outage that last 9-10 hours, but very minor as compared to Merritt, Pemberton, and the lower mainland [07:58:19] Glad you're okay though. [07:58:39] I had lots of friends and family in Merritt. All got out okay though. [07:58:52] Some in Abby, also fine. [08:01:17] yeah [08:01:32] Merritt's not too far from where I am [08:01:35] I'm located in Vancouver, with family also on the island, was some minor flooding that took out the Malahat highway on the island and caused some fuel shortages but open one way now. [08:01:51] Geez, glad you're okay. Things were pretty hairy there for a while. [08:02:21] We're worried about supply shortages for you guys [08:03:00] And hoping the hoarding has not begun. [08:03:43] Or I should say, has not accelerated. [08:06:05] yeah... [08:06:20] the shelves are quite empty, though we did get a shipment of produce and veggies in [08:06:32] and I think the limits on quantities is helping [08:07:26] I'm glad they are limiting, wish they had done it faster. Hopefully they get more supplies in soon. [08:08:12] The panic buying everywhere is making us pretty mad. Feels like Covid panic-buy 2.0. [08:10:12] Seems to be everywhere and not just the places mostly affected. [08:12:30] Anyway, stay safe and I hope they get a main highway open soon. [08:36:38] yeah [21:41:06] is anyone having a specific problem with saving images on chromium browsers? [21:41:56] I did report this a while ago, but on any website, sometimes, when you open an image in a new tab and the image loads quickly and you try to save it, the browser for whatever reason saves the image as a WEBP [21:42:34] some wikis (not on miraheze specifically) don't even support webp, but still the browser converted any image into WEBP if the image loaded fast [22:25:03] I didn't notice that. [22:51:50] Joseph: Could you check if my config files are correct? #pywikibot [22:53:35] oh [23:22:05] https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-times-view-on-boris-johnsons-speech-to-the-cbi-pigs-ear-jw7wx9dxz [23:22:06] [url] The Times view on Boris Johnson’s speech to the CBI: Pig’s Ear | Comment | The Times | www.thetimes.co.uk [23:22:16] >At a time of economic anxiety business leaders deserved better than the prime minister’s shambolic speech.
