[00:00:12] To test for optic neuritis (ON), they quite literally will hold a red cap or something bright red, then put a hand in front of first one eye, then the other and ask you if there are color differences. If ON is present (or damage from ON stayed) then there will be a washing out of reds. [00:00:59] Sometimes they also use the books they have with segments of images printed in various colors and ask if you can see the figures in the middle delinated by different colors. [00:00:59] interesting [00:01:26] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/932786725518991360/color-blind-test.png [00:01:29] Like that but in different colors [00:01:55] If you can't read the color in the middle, beause it appears washed out, then you're having trouble seeing that color (or whatever color the image tests). [00:02:05] it's a red background and i'm seeing green number 74 [00:02:34] *an ophthalmologist would make that determination of course, not us [00:03:15] Yeah, there's a bunch of different ones, usually an ophthalmologist would have a book of them. [00:04:13] For ON, it often attacks one eye, but I've had it attack my right eye several times, so it's affected more. And it has attacked both once, and given me temporary (fortunately) scotoms or blind spots in the middle once. Plus reduced peripheral vision. [00:04:40] Thankfully most of that went away, the only thing left is the color difference between both eyes. [00:04:54] Or rather, the impairment of my ability to see red worse in one eye. [00:05:58] Regardless of the source, people get used to it and it becomes normal. Plus learning to adapt. [00:07:47] Since our eyes pretty much merge the images we see from both eyes, all reds look funky when looking with both eyes. But less funky when looking with one. [00:08:14] 🧐 [00:11:27] *scotomas [00:50:04] Lots of parts of Canada getting hit with blizzards today... I don't miss all the snow. [00:50:43] and here where I live a hellish heat of 32 degrees [00:53:08] Oh boy, yeah we don't have that heheh. [00:53:31] I'd like to always hover right in the middle if I could. [01:00:27] It's always hot here, no matter if it's winter or not. 31 degrees at noon and at night it is between 28 degrees. Are you from Canada too? Doug is [01:02:51] Doug live in British Columbia [01:19:49] Yep, same province as Doug. [01:23:08] It's 5:23PM where he is now. [01:24:02] British Columbia is definitely in Canada, but the timezone is 3 hours behind. [01:25:35] for me it's 5 hours, DMM is two hours less than my timezone, [01:26:04] My neighbor's son is living in Vancouver [01:26:24] and yes, it's cold af in winter [01:26:31] oceanic climate [01:26:44] there is also another Vancouver in the state of Washington which is a neighbor of British Columbia [01:26:53] no, Vancouver BC/CA [01:27:17] the one where you can take a ferry to Victoria or Nanaimo [01:27:31] I know [01:27:44] the one that's the westernmost Canadian state capital city [01:28:15] and, where you can smell tons of weed [01:28:26] Lol [01:28:31] (no, never been there, fyi) [02:10:29] We consider this to be quite a mild climate, doesn't get -30C (and lower) like other areas in. [02:10:54] >mild [02:10:57] Rarely gets lower than -10C [02:10:57] hahahahahahahaha [02:11:08] Mild for a Canuck 😉 [02:11:12] man, 10°C is cold for me [02:11:34] Trust me, by comparison -35C is chilly lol [02:12:01] And when I say rarely, I mean, like a handfull of times a year it gets below -5C. [02:12:07] Actually, I prefer mild to hot climates [02:12:15] Whereas some areas stay cold as hell throughout the winter. [02:12:19] That's yucky [02:12:37] At -35C, my eyelashes start freezing lol [02:13:09] So, the west coast is essentially Canadian Hawaii [02:13:17] Dude, I know what it feels like to be at -1°C [02:13:30] your feet start to hurt [02:13:45] when you're walking [02:13:51] Doesn't usually get quite hot (at least per our usual definition of hot) like other areas of the Canada do either. [02:13:57] So in that way, it is pretty mild for us. [02:15:46] Though this summer some parts of BC outdid Dealth Valley's heat record, briefly, before it was smashed again there too. [02:16:35] The coastal areas managed to not get that hot, thankfully. [02:18:25] by "that hot" you mean like, 30°C? [02:23:27] It's not often we reach over 30C. Most times in costal areas it hovers in the mid to upper twenties. [02:24:09] Where in some areas further inland it more often gets into the thirties. [02:24:43] That's been changing more as things warm lately though. [02:26:17] I think we had a few places inland hit over 40C this summer [02:26:57] 46.6C in the very small town of Lytton BC apprently, which later burned to the ground. [05:44:16] How have folks been faring in the Omicron wave? [05:46:15] last week and the beginning of this one were my second kick at the covid can, still get light-headed when doing too much. [10:16:21] oh no [10:16:22] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/932941477632430100/unknown.png [10:16:46] As for the wave, I don't believe I've caught it at any step so far, or I'm simply asymptomatic [10:17:00] Strange given my medical history, but meh [10:25:02] Well, at least being asymptomatic wouldn't seem too bad. Though it can also be problematic too I guess, not knowing if having and trying to go about regular activities. [10:45:34] Regular for me tends to be quite aloof [11:18:44] Morning. [12:38:28] hi [16:08:48] microsoft bought activion-blizzard for 70 billion [16:12:30] o [16:12:51] ow fucking dies [16:13:12] for a second, I forgot it's a Miraheze server [16:13:53] because the only gaming server I'm hanging in is about Gigantic, which was initially under Microsoft, but got busted ... twice [16:14:31] we are playing on illegal test build tho lol [17:42:51] The creator of wiki 😓 [17:43:16] MediaWiki default is a good user
