[01:16:33] all it took was a first-hand grasp of opioid addiction [01:17:21] (feels weird that cough syrup that tastes good exists, but it's like a poisonous fruit ig) [01:26:35] i have yet to learn more about the templates [01:30:20] Get well soon sista [01:31:07] Ts should be a jumpscare effect in horror moving especially for people with headphones on [01:31:19] i am :3 [01:31:30] Congratulations :3 [01:33:07] https://tenor.com/view/yippee-gif-12598976956267201998 [01:33:26] yippy [03:06:26] [1/5] the feature was just a checklist for tables where you can check things off, for some reason fandom decided to add them to pages on wiki with tables where they thought it would work. But it made editing tables 10x more difficult in visual editor so I removed it from a wiki I edited on fandom staff followed back asking why it was removed and I didn't [03:06:26] [2/5] see their message so after a few days they just replied threatening to readd the checklist feature to tables [03:06:27] [3/5] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/1435102862752485426/image.png?ex=690abf31&is=69096db1&hm=4a0ef4e6b9fa1096e20cc7de553fb5687e64bb146a3656e2daf7fe6e0aa81da0& [03:06:27] [4/5] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/1435102863188557876/image.png?ex=690abf31&is=69096db1&hm=a8dd9d7fd455caa0f5c084900f855c50ead651ca8d5459ef0b4cb90741da16f8& [03:06:27] [5/5] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/1435102863721365614/image.png?ex=690abf31&is=69096db1&hm=4b27951c0cd0cb9b217caccb467a814eff551e78d1614d3b009e43a6d0d49787& [03:12:39] :huntersigh: [03:17:59] Yet another reason for my fandom hating 😐 [03:20:37] I refuse to even edit on fandom anymore, ever since I moved by wiki back in Jan-Feb this year [03:30:34] I find it a bit interesting how strongly anti fandom some folks are here [04:56:07] i think it's because a lot of folks migrated to miraheze from fandom and so have personal experience with being treated badly by fandom; especially with all the barriers to migration fandom has set up, those who do migrate are those who feel strongly enough against fandom that they do it in spite of those barriers [04:56:35] i also dislike fandom, but i treat it kind of like an internet troll. it thrives off engagement (literally), so don't feed it any; just pretend it doesn't exist lol [05:21:26] A healthier approach. [05:35:52] [1/2] I see it as an alternative hosting provider run by a for profit corporation with just about as much concern for listening to its user base as most big companies it’s size(maybe even a touch more), and a capitalist motivation to lock in users to its platform as much as possible within the confines of the license and software(or alternatively to continue gaining a [05:35:52] [2/2] d revenue). It just hurts a lot more when in relation to wikis due to the inherent conflict. [05:36:42] But the community is in my experience still pretty great, and there’s plenty of awesoem projects on there that can’t won’t or don’t wish to move, and that’s fine [05:37:24] I myself would not be here if it wasn’t for getting into a FANDOM wiki, and I am to this day still a content moderator and occasional editor on that wiki [05:38:44] (Note i myself have never personally gone through the process of migrating a wiki i am invested in off of fandom or dealing with the aftermath, Ive just lended assistance to others who have) [05:39:16] [1/2] I think Fandom has reached the point where it's really interested only in listening to its investors and ad partners and not its actual users. If it actually bothered to listen to its userbase, it wouldn't be trying to implement its incredibly unpopular swathes of generative AI changes. I've heard even folks who are content moderators or fandom stars or whatever have been trying to [05:39:16] [2/2] get management to reverse course on that. [05:39:41] As long as the wiki itself continues existing on Fandom, and its SEO remains strong, it'll receive ad revenue regardless of how the actual wiki editors feel about Fandom policy. [05:39:51] If this wasn’t a company running wikis, that would be expected [05:40:44] Hence, why I think its actually de-incentivized to listen to its editors. This, as you pointed out, is kind of the way of a lot of capitalist entities, but it probably stings more for regular folks since Fandom's content is made by them. [05:40:47] I have heard from some FANDOM Stars who have spoken out in no uncertain terms in roundtables and public against some of the dumb stuff of fandom corporate, and I give my respects [05:40:58] Mhm [05:41:42] There’s a real argument to be made (at not 12:40am) that a model like that is in some ways fundementally incompatible with the principles and values of a wiki [05:42:51] You're right. And it definitely is a shame that there are a lot of great projects still on Fandom being subject to that kind of corporate overreach with not much say when they're the ones who make Fandom lucrative in the first place. [05:43:39] aye [05:43:48] and now i will continue this in the morning [05:43:52] peace [05:44:04] good night!
