[11:05:56] yesterday on #miraheze-sre I talked about what would happen if we replaced CentralAuth with WSOAuth. I fleshed out the idea more on https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/User:OrangeStar/world-domination-plans, if anyone is interested [13:48:30] Wikimedia would love to do the same (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T252244) but I can't see how they will get around to it any time soon if ever. And as you acknowledge, way too much work for Miraheze... [14:18:08] I didn't know things were that bad with CentralAuth, thanks for the link. Actually I think for Miraheze it might just work. We can live for a while without things like wikisets, since we don't really use them, and we can have Stewards use interwiki userrights for permissions on other wikis while there are no global userrights. [14:19:28] If we figure something out for locking users, I think we're set! [14:24:47] wiki creations could technically work I think, we just wouldn't be able to give sysop and bureaucrat on creation (since the user doesn't exist yet, https://github.com/miraheze/CreateWiki/blob/f78899489775251ca8d3f140be5aab04ab8de14b/includes/WikiManager.php#L184, and we would also have to remove https://github.com/miraheze/CreateWiki/blob/f78899489775251ca8d3f140be5aab04ab8de14b/includes/WikiManager.php#L194) [14:27:50] How do you plan to manage account unification? A lot would have to be written from scratch...
