[00:02:01] [1/5] Yeah, I really only use Bsky now. It's not that toxic yet, and nice to keep updated with the Formula1 news. I haven't quit Instagram and Facebook yet either, but I rarely use them anymore. It's just to keep in contact with friends, but otherwise... [00:02:01] [2/5] I saw a great comment the other day. [00:02:01] [3/5] ```"20 years ago we used Internet to escape the real world, [00:02:02] [4/5] Now we use the real world to escape the internet"``` [00:02:02] [5/5] And I feel that is especially true for Social Media [00:03:07] i think there’s a balance to be had [00:03:50] I have definitely gone off net before for mental health at times, and gone on net when IRL is rough [00:04:34] Overall, I love the social media part of the internet for letting me meet and talk to so many different people from different backgrounds and places [00:05:10] I never would have spoken a word to you or Claire or Samuel if not for funny net communities [00:09:57] [1/2] I suppose there’s a difference to be established between social media and instant messaging. Social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., all push an echo chamber at times and in pursuit of farming the most engagement, you get the nastiest people on your feed with such divisive opinions that make you shake your head, something you perhaps would never see locally or in your [00:09:58] [2/2] own environment. [00:11:10] Social media is cool and all when you use it to talk to people you know irl but once you venture off to debate with strangers, you’ve lost [00:17:56] [1/3] Exactly that. Plus the time you waste on those useless discussions. I found myself often trying to talk sense into people who state clearly stupid takes on topics presented. And now I just think they are trolls. A waste of time. [00:17:56] [2/3] It's the same on Formula1 when driver fans (Lewis Hamilton V Max Verstappen) are shouting their poison on social media to dis each other, and I guess that's no different from soccer/football/baseball, etc. teams' fans who dis each other. [00:17:57] [3/3] Not to speak about peer pressure, vile language, pushed politicians in the feed, etc. [00:18:56] Waste of time for sure [00:19:07] 🚨 We should take this to #offtopic I guess 😄 [00:19:37] this basically is offtopic [00:21:03] `Discussion with the wider Miraheze technical community about technical matters (includes a relay with #miraheze-tech IRC channel on Libera Chat)` [00:22:36] In practice not writing [04:07:40] I disagree. Tech is for tech. not offtopic which has its own channel [04:18:28] Thanks! I figured out a workaround, but maybe it'll be better to request it so that similar things don't happen later. [10:19:29] gonna second that tech is tech most of the time even in practice, digressions should be rare and attempts to nominally follow the OT channel system are better than 'meh everything is off topic' [10:20:06] in the general channel okay, it's general, basically everything until there's real business, but that holds up less well on the more topical channels [10:29:37] how in the goddamn logging out in one browser logged me out in another [10:30:02] I wanted to switch to my testing alt in the first one [10:39:58] i think that's intentional? [10:40:02] i've heard that it is [10:40:54] [Sunday, 29 September 2024] [16.30.54 GMT+10] question: if you log out from a user account, does it log you out from all sessions??? [10:40:56] [Sunday, 29 September 2024] [16.31.04 GMT+10] every time i log out on my test container, my main container also gets logged out [10:40:57] [Sunday, 29 September 2024] [16.32.31 GMT+10] It does [10:47:12] oof [11:38:34] Intended behaviour because CentralAuth will invalidate your session on login, so the next time that session cookie is checked it is invalid and will be deleted. [14:14:27] very strange stuff w/ DiscussionTools on my wiki [14:15:24] [1/2] trying to create New topic on user talk that doesn't really exist, get this [14:15:24] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1006789349498699827/1326192468722454548/2025-01-07_17_11_48.png?ex=677e887c&is=677d36fc&hm=1f0ee3235c53916f4a5184558e459dfbbc1122b8dc273abc343650e7e8d11f57& [14:15:52] trying to create it as new page - the page is saved w/ plain text model [14:16:54] apparently I can't even delete it until I change page model [14:21:43] actually I just realized there was no usual DiscussionTool welcome banner on that talk page
