[00:17:48] Just woke up from a nap on my desk. Very relatable. [02:11:45] This is some real interesting stuff [02:11:47] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User_talk:PixDeVl#c-MediaWiki_message_delivery-20250519230900-Tech_News:_2025-21 [02:11:56] multiblocks i was not expecting so soon [02:12:13] > From May 20, 2025, oversighters and checkusers will need to have their accounts secured with two-factor authentication (2FA) to be able to use their advanced rights. All users who belong to these two groups and do not have 2FA enabled have been informed. In the future, this requirement may be extended to other users with advanced rights. Learn more. [02:12:24] ….come on guys… [02:13:04] I mean... yeah? They should? [02:13:27] two factor or get out when it comes to platform-impactful actions. [02:14:24] It’s 2025, are they just requiring it now? That’s awfully surprising [02:14:35] Yeah, the delay on enforcement is not great. [02:15:49] Crat doesn’t need it still [02:16:06] although wikis may be able to set their own requirements [02:17:00] This was hardly out of the blue, WMF had a 36k account comprise a few weeks ago I believe, and got kicked straight into gear on making this happen https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Mandatory_two-factor_authentication_for_users_with_some_extended_rights [02:17:48] Hopefully they continue this trend, both for security, and cause it’ll cause them to invest more in the feature itself, I’d love to having working good passkeys as an option for login [05:16:47] they don't have a proper recovery system lol [05:16:53] that's why there's the 2fa testers group [12:35:46] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Chart Would this be a welcome extension for Meta? It would help with making graphs and detailed info on what goes on on Miraheze? [12:36:19] At least maybe test it on Mirabeta [12:43:42] there's a task for this: [12:43:58] but it seems like it's stalled until mh has upgraded to 1.44 [12:51:24] Understandable. It's also a heavy feature I guess [12:52:38] [It](https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Chart) is now marked as stable on MediaWiki [14:59:17] @rodejong outstanding sec issues in the 1.43 version [18:56:38] [1/3] Can I get some help here? For some reason, Miraheze won't load images at all for me. It is farm-wide and only seems to be happening for me. This issue is only happening on Miraheze (not other sites like Fandom or YouTube), I I'm unable to view much of my wiki because of this, so I could really use the assistance. [22:01:53] If you're using an adblocker like ublock origin, maybe check to see if reducing it to a less aggressive setting solves the issue? [22:25:19] I do not have an adblocker. [22:26:32] [1/2] Again, it is only happening for Miraheze. It doesn't even load the icon displayed in tabs. [22:26:32] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1006789349498699827/1374513649518903317/image.png?ex=682e5317&is=682d0197&hm=87e09a88bd4a87ee7a35b4e14bf5c1e073965d77967f1e4634b9611114b8115a& [22:38:27] I actually tend to use ublock origin on hard mode and haven't had the image issue, it kind of sounds like cloudflare just isn't delivering assets somehow [22:45:42] try https://static.wikitide.net/rainversewiki/a/b/meow.png [23:37:40] [1/3] 2x things I've learned about CreateWiki: [23:37:40] [2/3] creating the database tables spams logs because TransactionProfiler is not happy that the no. of writes > 0. [23:37:40] [3/3] apparently even trying to run `CREATE TABLE Users` when using shared databases tries to create that table on `$wgSharedDB`, how fucking dumb?! [23:42:19] Trying to move Telepedia again? [23:42:23] It's moved already heh [23:42:26] finished it up last week [23:43:15] How’d it go [23:43:16] the issue arose with creating the database tables when it got to the user and actor table which is what I was investigating when I found all the log spam for the creation [23:43:38] for now my solution is to just remove those two tables from tables-generated.sql and hope WMF come up with something soon [23:44:05] not bad, the majority of time was spent on coming up with a maintenance script to handle the actor and user reconciliation and testing thoroughly [23:45:44] I screwed up a lot in testing because I didn't think about user ids clashing thoroughly enough but emh [23:46:58] But I'm wondering how Fandom handles the whole thing because they don't seem to use shared database. I wonder if they just call out to Kratos every time they need to get a users information
