[01:39:34] [5/46] These releases serve as security and maintenance releases for these branches. [01:39:34] [6/46] The tarballs have already been uploaded as of this email, and the git tags will be pushed shortly. [01:39:34] [7/46] A "MediaWiki Extensions Security Release Supplement" e-mail will follow this one, covering security updates for non-bundled extensions. [01:39:34] [8/46] [...] [01:39:35] [9/46] [Please report PHP 8.x bugs on phabricator] [01:39:35] [10/46] [See EOL info in previous announcement] [01:39:35] [11/46] MediaWiki 1.39 (the old LTS before 1.43) becomes EOL in December 2025. It is strongly recommended to upgrade to 1.43 (the next LTS after 1.39), which will be supported until December 2027. [02:34:32] . [08:23:27] I'm currently developing an extension with the boilerplate (no full release yet), should I delete all the commit history (aka `.git` folder) from the boilerplate and focus on just one of the release branches? [09:07:33] no [09:07:47] you should keep the commit history [09:15:56] I've never seen anybody do that tbh [09:39:56] Weird, the [Extension:BoilerPlate](https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:BoilerPlate) page does say so [09:41:13] (I was referring the OrangeStar's message in this response) [09:41:26] Yep [10:04:20] But older releases have different package versions and minimum required MW versions? [10:04:54] Namely 1.39 [10:27:26] Yes, you probably want to remove the git history. I don't think anyone who has contributed code to the Boilerplate extension would care. [11:25:38] oh, I see now, I misread, oops [13:30:07] I've made a follow up to this PR since the errors are still occurring for another notification type: (this is a trivial change so I could also self merge it in theory but I don't like self-merging extension PRs) [13:36:46] thx [14:32:34] @thewwrnerdguy I've just deployed fixes for and . The second one (comments made on talk pages were inaccessible) was partially fixed in JS, so it might still be broken for some time due to caching [14:33:41] (To be clear, the patch that allows separate comments on talk pages isn't merged yet as it's a feature addition and I'd like the BlueSpice maintainers to review it, the one I've deployed restores the intended behavior of the extension, which is to have the same set of comments on subject pages and talk pages) [14:46:40] thanks [20:04:03] ? [20:10:28] Not that I'm aware of [20:10:45] At least nobody ever mentioned one in one of the phorge tasks [20:11:20] The easiest solution is to just use AWB, JWB or MassEditRegex [20:25:30] [1/19] https://lists.wikimedia.org/hyperkitty/list/wikitech-l@lists.wikimedia.org/thread/TF4S5Y2324UIW3GOBPBWD2MSUSROG5GH/ [20:25:31] [2/19] Security and maintenance release: 1.39.15 / 1.43.5 / 1.44.2 [20:25:31] [3/19] Sam Reed @ 3 Oct 2025 6:45 p.m. [20:25:31] [4/19] I would like to announce the release of MediaWiki 1.39.15, 1.43.5 and 1.44.2 [20:25:31] [5/19] This release primarily serves as a security and maintenance release for [20:25:32] [6/19] these branches. [20:25:32] [7/19] REL1_39 had an issue with the VisualEditor extension backports. [20:25:32] [8/19] REL1_43 had missing backports for the DiscussionTools and Thanks extensions from. [20:25:33] [9/19] REL1_44 also had an issue with a backport for a CheckUser extension patch. This has been corrected in 1.44.2, but this unfortunately made another low severity XSS apparent in MediaWiki core which affects all release branches. This is tracked at T406322 under CVE-2025-11261. [20:25:33] [10/19] Some other changes may be included in these patches based on what has been merged to those branches in the meantime. [20:25:33] [11/19] The tarballs have already been uploaded as of this email, and the git tags have been pushed. [20:25:34] [12/19] Reports of bugs with PHP 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 and 8.4 support are particularly welcome, and fixes will be back-ported when possible. Please see https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/php_8.0_support/, https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/php_8.1_support/, https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/php_8.2_support/, https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/tag/php_8.3_support/ and https://phabrica [20:25:34] [13/19] tor.wikimedia.org/tag/php_8.4_support/ for the relevant work boards. [20:25:35] [14/19] [See EOL info in earlier announcement] [20:25:35] [15/19] MediaWiki 1.39 (the old LTS before 1.43) becomes EOL in December 2025. It is strongly recommended to upgrade to 1.43 (the next LTS after 1.39), which will be supported until December 2027.
