[00:20:32] @elisapoly for your MotM blurb, raidarr was the one who formally nominated you (I was poking on the idea for a bit before so it didn't fall in the cracks but) [00:20:34] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1225560610628964423/1555011509573394503/image.png?backend=b2&ex=6abef8d2&is=6abda752&hm=00a2fc538faa4530e0f2d8afe7479b6b8c073a55e09bd42214c01a18ba610841& [01:36:01] pix was the prime mover for making it happen so meh [04:46:30] okay, template filler as a website now exists [04:46:36] https://volatile.territopple.net/pwr [04:48:09] please give thoughts [04:56:47] In that case, I'll add both :pupCoffeeMH: [08:11:05] Still doing lots of tech stuff. Anyone want to fill out the missing sections in https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Miraheze_Monthly/September_2026 ? I will do another pass when I have a bit more time. [13:48:59] I added a few ideas in the wiki highlights nominations page [13:52:47] (sorry, just realized the MH communities is redundant bleh) [15:00:08] [1/2] Particularly @uranium_mandy and @sakurababochka [15:00:08] [2/2] if it’s useful literally at all I’ll put more work into it, but I can’t really know without input from other people doing practice reviews [15:00:58] for example, if it's useful I'll add a way to do custom templates instead of the default one, but if it's not I won't bother [15:22:58] Bear in mind that neither of us are currently elected reviewers, we can give formatting & structure guidance but for actual review feedback I'd defer to someone who's elected & experienced. [15:24:25] there is an interesting caveat to add and that is 'flag' [15:24:45] wikis that elicit distinct hmmmmm may be recorded to have a one time or recurring visit [15:25:17] this is separate from any actual approval step so would probably be a checkbox, can split the two natures [15:57:14] [1/2] this tool is not meant to be used for anything other than practice reviews, so I'm more interested in the opinions of the people doing those practice reviews than those who haven't done them in quite a while. [15:57:14] [2/2] The main stuff I'm looking for is whether this tool would see use, and if so, how to reduce the barrier to entry [15:58:17] I think part of what Jenny was getting at when she said the tool might be useful to others is that being able to point prospective reviewers at a simple website that makes it easy to do those reviews would make more people at least give it a shot [15:58:20] I would recommend it to folks looking to do practice reviews, but I prefer to do my own formatting [16:00:27] it's also my hope that once the tool is mature enough, Miraheze would ideally be the one hosting it, or at least provide an exemption from cloudflare challenges to whatever domain it sits on (if MH doesn't host it, I'll get another domain so it isn't awkwardly sticking off the side of my game's beta site) [16:00:41] Ye, it's the thing of being able to choose what you emphasise. [16:01:13] you mean in terms of what content the formatting emphasizes? [16:01:36] just checking this is in reference to the website, right? [16:02:00] @jenny_on_wiki does this seem somewhat reasonable to you? [16:05:14] Ye. If you compare Amanda's page and mine, for example, my page has most emphasis on the link and the actual review (so that I can skim to look for what gets a request approved, declined, etc.) whereas the feedback is more emphasised on Amanda's. [16:05:34] The advantage of setting up your own page is that you can make the parts that are most useful to you for later finding. [16:05:50] yeah, I think that all mostly relates to being able to use your own template, I just didn't want to implement that for a proof of concept [16:06:01] And also, to a degree, it shows that a candidate is competent with wikitext. [16:06:06] Fair. [16:07:10] thin on the ground? [16:07:24] it's an idiom, means sparse. [16:08:14] never heard of that one before, neat [16:18:15] To be honest, wikitext isn't very relevant to reviewing anyway. My main question with your tool therefore would be how it exports practiced reviews - can they be re-imported later, what format does it export in, are the exports human-readable (as distinct from plaintext, so JSON and similar are counted), etc. [16:20:29] right now it's just a button that copies the generated wikitext to your clipboard, but that can be changed if needed [16:21:25] the way the CLI version works is slightly different, since the filled templates are appended to an output file, so it allows you to batch a bunch of practice reviews without needing to copy each individually [16:29:47] Is that latter reload safe? I've had enough practice requests eaten by page reloads to be wary of that. [16:31:08] not for the POC, but it should be pretty easy to do with sessionStorage [16:47:35] I haven't closely inspected this tool (and I'm not really the one to ask about having Miraheze host something, although exceptions to CF challenges is something I can do), I'm wondering if it could have a user JS implementation so you just need one line in user js to import it [16:53:33] I was just thinking something similar, I’ll have to look into it [16:55:55] Though iirc there was something about a minifier not supporting certain syntax, though I don’t remember whether that applied to user JS [16:57:46] it doesn't apply to stuff you `mw.loader.load`. the minifier does at least support `async` though [16:58:35] I also haven’t touched user scripts before, so it’ll take a while [17:00:23] [[help:javascript]] [17:00:24] [17:20:42] yes [18:11:21] [1/4] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1225560610628964423/1555280976576520282/image.jpg?backend=b2&ex=6abff3c8&is=6abea248&hm=5d90f9d5861909e680fd35e4a8bfdc95b3e7c0ef07adc23fb262d1c85bc653a3& [18:11:21] [2/4] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1225560610628964423/1555280977255858276/image.jpg?backend=b2&ex=6abff3c8&is=6abea248&hm=f9f30b82da6284a737827f9bd8ebf0ef456009f50f8f0ba3f490bccc25275274& [18:11:22] [3/4] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1225560610628964423/1555280978539446342/image.jpg?backend=b2&ex=6abff3c9&is=6abea249&hm=2976fcc467338338a27551cc10c8d5ab128b6fa41a43383417a02ec642c2866c& [18:11:22] [4/4] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1225560610628964423/1555280979319463976/image.jpg?backend=b2&ex=6abff3c9&is=6abea249&hm=e5535cfc7518fa92fb9822712145140e940b9e90151a470c9b4cb6b5913af08a& [22:13:25] @jenny_on_wiki user script + user pages seems to be very promising [22:14:54] I'm going to work on getting current functionality all implemented
