If you have any questions, feel free to ask and someone should answer soon. [23:00:33] Hey all. We want to point a custom (root) domain name to our wiki, so I believe using a cname wouldn't be correct, or at least not recommended. Should I just change the domain's nameservers? [23:02:13] I can run DNS and set up let's encrypt myself if there's a way to make that work seamlessly for a root domain [23:05:10] Hmm, I'm not a DNS expert myself, but I believe a CNAME for @ redirects the whole domain? Though, if you are more comfortable setting the nameservers, that may be best [23:16:29] Mmmm, doesn't DNS also help against spambots or something else? [23:17:16] DNS is just the phonebook of the internet, it tells computers where to find a specific server, I don't think it'd really affect spambots a lot [23:19:10] Ah, I see. Well, anyway, I did discover spamfarm of them elsewhere on the wikis. [23:36:38] I'll try that again later, since I'm currently multitaking too much, but meanwhile I'll keep asking questions ;) [23:37:02] Can I set up the wiki for accounts to require some sort of invitation (at least for being able to edit?) [23:37:10] I'm not too experienced with Mediawiki [23:43:36] Protected: you can restrict who can create accounts and then create accounts who's passwords are sent to a special email
