[00:33:54] are we finally upgrading to 1.40 yet [00:34:21] I believe that is on pause for now [00:34:24] Probably not anytime soon [00:35:16] yeah i think they're waiting until all the Miraheze stuff is dealt with [00:35:42] No its indefinitely paused until we get people that are able to do it [02:44:38] [1/3] I can't figure out how to get infoboxes to work, they always end up giving a link to a page called "Template:Infobox" instead of actually showing the infobox (and I tried reading the article on how to use infoboxes but still couldn't figure it out). It did work on my sandbox page for some reason, it just won't work on the page I'm trying to use it in. [02:44:38] [2/3] Here's a page with the problem: https://spectruls.miraheze.org/wiki/Template:Race [02:44:38] [3/3] Here's my sandbox page, where the same infobox worked: https://dev.miraheze.org/wiki/User:Norner/sandbox [02:47:54] Just realized I didn't really word that as a question... Does anyone know how to use/add infoboxes on regular wiki pages? [02:54:00] [1/2] You need to actually create the infobox on your wiki (where as on the dev.miraheze wiki you are just using one that someone else made on that wiki). Portable Infobox extension is by FAR the easiest method to make infoboxes with, including it have a visual builder for making a basic infobox, but also very powerfull once you start writing code for it afterwards. One of NotArachmas post [02:54:00] [2/2] s in the 📌 got linsk to documentation for it as well [02:54:40] [1/2] ^^^ [02:54:41] [2/2] Portable Infobox is definitely your best bet [03:01:26] Ok, I'll check it out, thanks! [03:26:16] how’d the maintenance go? [03:26:24] :3 [03:49:46] It took about half the time SRE said it would, so I'd say pretty good [04:09:52] wow, um….wow [04:10:12] not in relation to anything said a few minutes ago here, but…wow [04:11:23] ? [04:12:07] oh yeah probably more of an off topic thing [04:50:21] nice ^^ [08:51:57] did you just :3?? [08:52:10] :3 [11:19:28] [1/2] you can transclude user page from Meta to another wiki [11:19:28] [2/2] so I can slap to transclude only selected bits? <:ThinkingHardMH:769233180799795221> [11:27:35] how can I actually use templates from Meta tho, like userboxes? [11:27:40] We have global user page for a reason [11:27:46] Please don't scary transclude [11:27:51] alright [11:28:13] but global won't let me to add additional, single wiki specific stuff, isn't? [11:28:43] can you not create a local page on that wiki? [11:28:59] and I'm sure there's a way but maybe ask the wikimedia people [11:29:15] I imagine you aren't the only one with that thought [11:29:29] Interwiki transclusion should be used by exception only though [11:30:29] like, I'll go make a global user page w/ one div and userboxes, but then I want to meaningful text on my wiki's user page [11:32:14] You should probably ask mediawiki discord [11:32:25] But please don't default to cross wiki transclusion [11:32:33] I get it yeah [11:32:40] I won't [17:58:14] Hello! I am new to this. Is there a way to make it so that levels (=, ==, etc) are opened by default on mobile? The format seems to translate well, but I don't want people having to constantly click (expand)- I was told this would be a good place to ask! Cheers 🙂 [18:06:01] There's a separate #support channel; that's what I meant by a support thread, though general is also a good place [18:12:44] @tali64 that's mb LOL I saw that and thought I posted it on that thread. thanks for bringing that to my attention! [18:44:10] interesting, one user asks for collapsed sections by default and the other doesn't want them on mobile lol [18:47:06] [1/3] anyway, @liosrakia [18:47:06] [2/3] the collapsed sections is prime feature of MobileFronend extension, which adds desktop/mobile modes [18:47:07] [3/3] the best way to have normal section AND looking good on phones is using mobile adaptive skins like Cosmos or Timeless - they change their look by screen size natively thus you won't need desktop/mobile modes and you won't have to manage them separately [18:50:02] ah, I just saw the offtopic chat [18:50:23] well, I'm anti MFE lol [22:00:37] I replied in #Thumbnails don't regenerating because two images on my wiki are not updating for two days now, but maybe it's the wrong place. Where should I request them to be purged? [22:52:07] you did it in the right page. We're currently running a script to reindex the AC server [22:52:27] so when you delete an image all the thumbs will as well rather then just a few it found. [23:30:50] Okay, thank you! So it's just a mayter of time then <:pupCoffeeMH:766487840694599711>
