[01:25:33] [1/2] question since im kinda new to this but how do u whitelist people on a priv wiki [01:25:33] [2/2] im dumb [01:27:19] After the visited the wiki once while logged in (everyone can see the main page, but nothing else) go to Special:UserRights type in their username and give them the "User" group [01:27:51] [1/2] so I'm basically making a wiki but I have absolutely no idea where to start [01:27:51] [2/2] as in, can I just start making pages already and figure stuff out as I go or is there something I need or should do first? [01:28:27] ty [01:28:48] That is really a case by case thing, depend on the type of wiki and the subject of it, and what you need with it [01:28:49] im most concerned especially about categorising or organising pages and stuff [01:30:02] so because it's about fictional languages I'm probably going to end up dividing into a more Wikipedia-like part with full text entries and a more Wiktionary-like part with short entries for individual words [01:32:32] I suppose I can do this with the namespace function actually [01:37:47] Wait I think it might be "Member" it is called the group actually you need to give them, got a bit mixed up on the names there, I think. Haven't really worked with a private wiki myself, rest of what I said should be correct though [01:41:17] yea it worked ^^ [05:51:08] Bring the Real Life Villains Wiki back goddammit [06:08:21] you've been told already - it's on another wiki hosting now [06:08:29] stop bringing this up here, please [07:06:34] Ugh is there no general support channel, only threads? [07:07:20] This is the general support channel if you have a quick question <:pupCoffeeMH:766487840694599711> [07:07:34] (See channel description) [07:13:26] [1/2] Oh lol [07:13:26] [2/2] I was just wondering if you can upload your own layouts to bootstrap skins like chameleon [07:13:49] [1/2] yeah [07:13:49] [2/2] threads are just more convenient because thing tend to get lost here way too quickly [07:16:59] Or if you are allowed to edit any skin/extension files in general [07:17:25] no idea how Chameleon works tbh [07:20:17] [1/2] Xena, any idea/experience on adapting this on Mira? [07:20:17] [2/2] [07:21:07] seems like copying its js/css code doesn't do the trick [07:27:16] I'll take a look later today 👀 can you link the page you're testing this on? [07:27:42] Hopefully it's simply a skin/wiki layout difference [07:30:56] Not by editing the source of the skin/extension afaik, no. But you can use css and (to some extent) js toanipulate the look of the wiki. [07:31:34] To some extent because overusing js would result in changes popping in [07:31:50] Same to huge amounts of css [07:33:05] So if you like chameleon's colors/styling but not the layout, a better solution would be to use a skin with the preferred layout and then style it to look like you want. [07:35:41] Yeah but I saw that `$egChameleonLayoutFile` can be changed so I was hoping a custom value is possible too somehow [07:36:15] if it's available in Styling settings maybe [07:36:34] Any skin parameters in ManageWiki can be changed [07:36:53] That's what's exposed to be changeabke [07:37:20] The 5 built-in layouts are [07:37:34] Then yes if you can change that you can. [07:37:35] Manage this wiki's additional settings -> Styling [07:37:58] Cosmos, Timeless and Vector do get these bellow [07:38:07] Keep in mind skin changes can take a moment to take effect [07:38:55] [1/2] ... so you can't change to custom xml [07:38:56] [2/2] Anyways thx for help [07:39:39] it has to be xml? [07:50:00] [1/5] the wiki heavily relies on tooltips (MOBA wikis disease lol) [07:50:00] [2/5] don't pay attention to missing icons and a bit borked styling of pop-up on og wiki [07:50:01] [3/5] also I'm on mobile, but pop-ups do work on (desktop) fandom when I tap things, while on mira nothing appears [07:50:01] [4/5] [07:50:01] [5/5] [07:52:19] actually starting to think if broken icons could be the reason <:ThinkerMH:912930078646730792> [08:02:37] Chameleon uses xml layouts [08:02:56] Which I imagine is how bootstrap skins work in general [08:21:09] am i the only one who thinks this character is cute? [08:36:04] [1/2] #offtopic [08:36:04] [2/2] please don't disrupt support channel [12:15:01] [1/2] ohhh so this is #object-shows now ok [12:15:01] [2/2] lol [14:16:38] Hello [14:17:20] Sup [14:38:53] hmm? [14:39:36] oh hey [14:39:38] is back [14:43:03] loaded, but not quickly [14:55:37] I have found the temporary solution [14:57:03] [1/2] for whatever reason mobile common.css will only load when you switch to pc version on your phone [14:57:03] [2/2] then you go back and the custom color is there [19:57:46] Okay so it appears that you're importing the wrong thing [19:58:40] [1/2] You're importing this: [19:58:40] [2/2] And the fandom version is this: [19:58:57] It's not the same code [20:06:18] but I copied the code from fandom ... [20:06:30] I didn't even think about wikipedia [20:07:05] should I try import? [20:12:21] Yeah, maybe that will fix it [20:13:44] From where? All I see in their Common.js is some configuration settings and then this dev tooltips I linked in the import js <:ThinkerMH:912930078646730792> [20:14:48] And the Import js is deleted on the mira version (plus the dev interwiki wouldn't work afaik?) [20:21:06] I always delete ImportJS on Mira? [20:21:15] it doesn't work at all [20:21:51] I copied SoundCloud player over Pizza Tower Wiki, w/o even putting @Import in Common.js [20:22:27] /apologies to whoever I pinged/ [20:23:12] done this first time on Gigantic, thinking maybe it will help [20:29:12] You are importing tooltips from mediawiki in common.js currently so that's why I mentioned it [20:29:36] OH [20:29:40] shit [20:31:31] Anyways need to head to sleep. Goodnight! 🌙 Hopefully you can get it to work [20:31:42] ok, I removed it [20:31:48] will have to wait [20:31:54] oh, good night [23:07:41] waves to the community
