[00:18:21] btw, i put an image dump request into phabricator about a week ago, am i supposed to put any special tags on it or post it somewhere so the staff know its there? [01:13:06] is miraheze down? [01:13:41] 503 ? [01:13:49] yea [01:14:13] i keep doing control + f5 and it doesn't change [01:14:20] any1 getting 503 errors? [01:14:26] Meeeeeee [01:14:31] Again really.... [01:14:34] yup [01:14:34] well idk why i asked when someone said it earlier [01:14:34] chii [01:15:05] me [01:15:26] I couldn't make a dump the entire day from my wiki [01:16:05] we back up [01:16:23] no 503 for me now [01:17:58] hello [01:25:37] My monobook.css is breaking weirdly now. What's going on? I didn't change anything and it's randomly not doing anything now [01:26:55] How do I add a table to an infobox? I can't get it to show up regardless if I add it to an infobox or the infobox template [01:42:31] Nothing with my Monobook.css is working for some reason [02:50:36] so as it turns out making infoboxes in miraheze wikis is far harder than in fandom wikis... how do you do it [03:09:00] nope it is pretty much the same as long as you enable the Portable infobox extension [03:12:41] oh how do you enable it? [03:15:01] click the "Manage this wiki's extensions" or something like that (depends on the specific skin what it says exactly I think, but something along those lines, to get to the page to manage extensions), and find it in the list there tick it, and "submit" button [03:17:47] okay i enabled it, copied and pasted the source code of a fandom over to my miraheze wiki, and it didn't work, so what now? [03:23:46] In what way did it not work? if your wiki is public a link to the template would help a lot too [03:37:37] the server is not letting me send the link for some reason [03:38:04] https:// thedualhorizon.miraheze.org/wiki/Template:World_infobox [03:38:11] just close the space [03:38:58] Parts of my common.css are breaking now too [03:39:08] you need to /auth with the bot to send links [03:39:22] ahh ok [03:40:52] I don't see that arrow... [03:44:46] No but seriously what arrow is it talking about [03:44:49] I don't see anything [03:45:14] Are you on desktop or mobile? [03:45:18] Desktop [03:47:05] OHHH [03:47:10] I thought it was on the website [03:47:33] haha [03:48:26] https://thedualhorizon.miraheze.org/wiki/Template:World_infobox [03:49:21] as for the infobox I think it is working, just not super well formatted for the sourcepage side, you need to as always with template to use it on a normal page, to see an actual infobox. I would suggest putting ` /includeonly` around the actual infobox part, to have it not show all the tags on the source page at all. [03:52:29] [1/2] in general you almost always want to have everything on a template source page inside either ` /includeonly` (the actual stuff to transclude when using the template), or ` ` (the stuff that should only show on the template source page, like documentation, category assignment etc.), there is almost never a case where you want something showing on bot [03:52:29] [2/2] h the template source page, and when using the template on a normal page [03:52:49] got it [03:53:54] the "templatedata" part is still showing up though and it was supposed to be organized like a table as seen here https://the-dual-horizon.fandom.com/wiki/Template:World_infobox [03:54:55] but idk if removing that part changes anything so [03:56:23] [1/2] Ohh yeah templatedata is another extension you need to enable 😛 [03:56:23] [2/2] Templatedata is only really needed if you use Visual editor(VE) though(yet another extension 😉 ), as it basically what tells VE what parameters exists for the template. [03:56:38] It is not needed for the infobox itself to work otherwise [03:56:46] Okay got it [03:59:31] So I turned on both extensions and there's still no table thefe [04:07:21] try put `?action=purge` at the end of the URL, and click the OK button that appears, to basically clear the serverside cache [04:08:21] That said I will be going to bed(5am here), so you gonna have to wait for someone else to come along if you got more issues/qeustions still [04:09:37] That's alright [04:13:46] @nibblypup yo blood i gotta question [04:14:01] is it ok to use your guys site as a doxxing platform? [04:45:05] Hi [04:45:20] Just a new person here trying to get the best experience using Miraheze and all [04:45:41] Would you mind if I ask several question and teach me how the website works since I do want to establish my own wikia [04:53:24] No. And, if you're aware of any on our platform, send an email to stewards[at]miraheze[dot]org so we can make it disappear. [04:54:38] Best to just straight up ask your question, though if you're worried about it getting lost, #support threads might be the way to go. [04:56:58] I'm also attempting to add a table to an infobox, and I've enabled the templatedata extension and cleared page caches but the table still won't appear [05:17:32] Thanks. Probably I'll start asking how to make template first. But I think requesting wikia would be a good way to go [06:04:44] what do you mean by table? [06:07:11] I originally wanted the templatedata part in this template page to be displayed in miraheze, but since it doesn't affect how the template works I removed it in my miraheze wiki after I copied it over from fandom https://the-dual-horizon.fandom.com/wiki/Template:World_infobox [06:07:21] Sorry if any of the wording is confusing btw [06:09:06] template data is a whole different beast, a bit more complicated than infobox itself [06:27:06] what does he mean by nowiki tags? [06:28:32] /nowiki prevents wiki code from applying [06:28:45] it automatically gets added if you type in wikicode in visual editor [06:36:31] first time hearing about this lol [06:37:18] I guess you haven't noticed you are in visual editor of discussions, there's a switch to source [06:51:19] does the `{{DISPLAYTITLE}}` magic word not work on subpages? [06:51:19] https://meta.miraheze.org/wiki/Template:DISPLAYTITLE [06:51:35] huh [07:14:49] does it work on normal tho? [07:15:23] there's a silly setting on disaplaytitle that needs to be unchecked [11:25:58] Good day, I hope everyone is doing well. I have a question for one of the users of the wiki https://permanentfuturelab.wiki/wiki/ . He created an account and is logged in but is not able to edit a page. When I look into the https://permanentfuturelab.wiki/wiki/Special:ListGroupRights it seems all users have edit rights. He is missing the edit link I see on my screen. A screenshot from his side is available by https://nostrfiles.dev/uploads/ejKZUKnuG [11:25:58] bctvnLAIw55.png . Any clue? [11:27:02] raceman: looking [11:28:44] raceman: the main namespace requires 'editsemiprotected' to edit [12:19:58] @RhinosF1 thanks. I found https://permanentfuturelab.wiki/wiki/Special:ManageWiki/namespaces/0 , but the field "Which userright should be needed to edit this namespace? ($wgNamespaceProtection)" is already 'editsemiprotected' [12:25:02] raceman: yes, that is your problem [12:25:16] the user isn't confirmed / autoconfirmed so won't be able to edit [12:38:41] how can i disable this? [12:49:51] you can hide it by creating that category page and putting `HIDDENCAT` on it [13:04:30] Okay, so I changed the setting to 'None' , I will ask him if it works now [13:05:10] raceman: please leave it blank [13:05:14] None will not work [13:05:34] oh good it is actually blanked [13:05:40] i thought you'd typed None [13:13:13] I clicked 'None', but it changed automatically to blanked [13:14:33] good [13:14:57] i forgot that was a dropdown [13:15:06] it should work for them now [13:20:38] Thanks I asked Nomishka to check [13:55:18] Its working, thanks again RhinosF1 [14:40:25] Hey is there a page with a list of these? [14:43:43] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Magic_words/en-gb will list all core ones [14:53:01] I think miraheze should shut down, its a platform full of drama ... [16:41:58] What’s the syntax for creating a poll? [16:42:47] Or does Miraheze have a poll extension? [17:03:34] there's a poll extension, I'm not sure how you use it though [17:04:57] It looks like they have the pollNY extension but not the regular poll extension? This seems weird [17:25:14] Is installing extensions on Miraheze as simple as clicking the checkmark on them? [17:29:36] Almost, click the checkmark for the extension(s), and then the submit button near the bottom [17:31:45] I vaguely remember something about security issues regarding one of these two [17:33:48] On the site it says no SecurePoll but that’s not the poll extension [18:11:39] how do you give your wiki a custom background image? if you want an example of what i meant look at the rainworld wiki from desktop [18:23:37] it depends on the skin [18:24:20] do some skins support custom background images while others don't? [18:26:03] [1/12] sorta, but in the case of rain world wiki specifically, they're using vector legacy, and they've made changes through css; [18:26:03] [2/12] ``` [18:26:04] [3/12] body { [18:26:04] [4/12] background-color: var(--bg-color-solid); [18:26:04] [5/12] background-image: url(https://static.miraheze.org/rainworldwiki/d/d6/Slugs.png); [18:26:05] [6/12] background-position: center; [18:26:05] [7/12] background-repeat: no-repeat; [18:26:05] [8/12] background-attachment: fixed; [18:26:06] [9/12] background-size: cover; [18:26:06] [10/12] } [18:26:06] [11/12] ``` [18:26:07] [12/12] (https://rainworld.miraheze.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css) [18:26:30] and where do they put that css code? [18:26:38] like a page [18:26:44] MediaWiki:Common.css [18:26:54] oh miraheze has that too? [18:27:10] yes [18:27:22] most things that run on mediawiki do i think [19:13:35] it should be skin specific CSS [19:13:48] in case of this example MediaWiki:Vector.css [19:15:40] Common CSS is applied on wiki no matter what skin user is getting [19:16:29] different skins have different layout and elements, so it's better to put such changes to skin specific CSS [19:16:58] common is good for things like templates or "solid" mediawiki elements [19:17:57] before 2021 fandom/wikia had Wikia.css for their Oasis skin + ofc Common.css [19:37:07] how do I directly upload a custom font to my wiki? [19:48:42] [1/2] `Special:Upload` [19:48:42] [2/2] make sure the woff file format is allowed in Additional settings > Media [19:58:01] thanks! [21:05:36] im trying to change my wiki's skin from minervaneue to apex but it's not working somehow [21:06:27] like i click the apex box in the managewiki page and unclick the minervaneue box and save it but nothing changes [21:11:45] where are you making this chang [21:12:12] also did you press submit [21:12:40] there's a button saying save and i pressed it [21:12:51] Special:ManageWiki/extensions#mw-section-skins [21:13:14] You are just activating the skin, you need to go to "Manage this wiki's additional settings", and under the styling tab, change the default skin too [21:14:40] did it, still the same [21:16:02] nvm nvm it changed [21:17:22] Always gives things a bit of time when you are changing stuff in any managewiki settings like that, caches etc need to kick in. [21:17:45] yeah i just had to clean the cache for it to actually load [21:19:02] Well sometimes depending on what it is, also the serverside cache that need to get refreshed, which isn't something you can really control either (that is particularly true for sitewide css changes) [22:20:25] is there a limit on how many wikis one can make? [22:35:10] Not officially [22:35:16] ok [23:22:31] my account got hacked [23:22:53] i can't send the twitter link talking about it but it is desk_gun [23:23:13] i can't send the twitter link talking about it but it is desk_gun (on twitter) [23:37:34] i ended up putting the link in my account bio [23:39:53] This isn’t related to MH at all tbh [23:40:20] This is why you never answer DMs from strangers [23:40:21] i meant the old discord account [23:41:46] but yea, someone made a whole fake discord report and sent it to me [23:42:20] Yeah thats something that almost any massive company has had happen since the internet has existed its nothing special [23:42:32] Once again why you never click on things from strangers [23:43:11] regardless, my point is, can you kick the old discord account from the discord server [23:43:31] Just did [23:43:34] thank
