[15:01:32] [discord] Greetings, colleagues. I've discovered an interesting feature of the rights system in our project. It turns out that if a conditional vandal (speaking from experience — as happened with [[User:DisambiguousMonths]]) removes bureaucrat rights from you, you won't be able to unblock yourself. I don't know about stewards or system administrators. The latter have access to the server and the database, so in theory this [15:01:32] [discord] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1120379200893890762/1506673235079594095/image.png?ex=6a0f1e4b&is=6a0dcccb&hm=f0d0650c18b4b0e3c4cde6d93f184a44b91033aee41349e35817e7fd1a7dd8c1& [15:04:30] [discord] That's intentional (and is the default MediaWiki setting nowadays) [15:07:21] [discord] Good to know, thanks. Still, it feels like a single point of failure if a vandal can lock out a bureaucrat permanently. But if that's by design, then so be it. [15:08:47] [discord] Admins can't remove bureaucrat rights (and even if they could, it's always possible for a steward to intervene) [15:09:10] [discord] Even if that happened, which is very rare, it's always possible for a steward to intervene [15:13:35] [discord] Got it, makes sense. I didn't know stewards have an unblockable flag. Accepted, thanks.
