[13:59:31] new editor, I am trying to understand how some items have a "Identifiers" header with list of external ids, which is separated as a section following the "Statements" section. how is that "Identifiers" section created? [14:00:36] Guest31: that section contains all the statements for properties with the data type “external identifier” [14:00:50] (see https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Help:Data_type#External_identifier) [14:01:07] you don’t need to do anything for it, the software creates the sections automatically based on which properties are used on the item [14:01:37] if you add a new statement in either section it’ll end up in the right place automatically (possibly only after reloading the page, not sure) [14:11:34] not getting it, sorry. I try adding a "statement" and it disallows typing "external identifier" with "no match was found". the question I guess is: where to add that property? if for example I want to add a LOC identifier for a book, it doesn't work to add it as a property. I understand how software might automatically create the heading, but not [14:11:35] working in a way that is obvious to me [14:15:26] “external identifier” is a data type, not a single property [14:15:31] try searching for the property you want [14:16:13] I’m not sure which property “LOC identifier” is, there are several library of congress related properties [14:16:39] I tihnk it might be P244 [14:16:53] (seen e.g. at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q3107329#P244) [14:24:51] that is P244, yes. so I did not realize, I needed to type "no" in front of the LOC number. clicking "add statement", and entering "Library of Congress Authority ID", with the value "noXXXXXXXXXX" did what I was asking for, thank you [14:27:03] \o/
