I basically want to make some exceptions for edits made from toolforge but not sure about the range [11:53:09] Amir1: currently all of WMCS uses 185.15.56.0/24, although the wikis can also see internal ips in the 172.16.0.0/21 range [11:59:27] thanks [14:57:55] Hello, can I have some help to switch the backend in the warper.wmflabs.org proxy in the maps project, to point from maps-warper3 to maps-warper4 please? (It's a somewhat non-standard setup if I am reporting this correctly) I think im ready for the new debian instance to go live [14:58:37] chippy: sure, give me a second [14:58:44] thanks taavi [15:00:14] !log project-proxy update warper.wmflabs.org mapping per irc request [15:00:16] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Project-proxy/SAL [15:00:57] chippy: done! I'm thinking of getting a ToolForge account but have questions beforehand. Is this the right place to ask? [16:44:50] MartinPoulter: yes it is, what questions did you have? [16:46:56] The Wikidata-driven tools I've written are in PHP and used cron to generate static HTML. They were on a LAMP server at University of Oxford, which has been taken down. Is ToolForge the right platform to resurrect them? [16:47:27] Depends what you mean by "right" :) [16:47:33] It definitely can let you do those things, yes [16:48:08] They were Astrolabe Explorer (which demo'ed using Wikidata as a hub for data from different GLAM collections) and Collections Explorer (which created profiles of artists showing their works from different collections). [16:50:15] Good to hear. So serving PHP, running cron jobs, and doing API calls over the web (which maybe in the long term I'll turn into database queries) are possible just by going through the Toolforge process (I'm already experienced with LAMP servers). [16:50:48] indeed (standard disclaimers apply, your mileage may vary tm) [16:51:08] Cool. That's all I wanted to be sure of! [16:51:39] MartinPoulter: https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Toolforge/Jobs_framework is the preferred service for periodic jobs and https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Toolforge/Web describes the site hosting services. [16:52:44] Ah, useful. I'd dug around Help:Toolforge but hadn't seen that page. I'll have to learn this slightly different way of scheduling jobs. [16:53:45] We still have a "normal" cron service today as well, but it is being phased out over time in favor of Kubernetes and the new wrapper we have written to try and make that a bit easier [17:11:09] !log admin restarting designate services in cloudservices1xxx hosts [17:11:12] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Admin/SAL [17:39:06] hi there! Is there anyone who could help with a log-in issue for Wikitech? I've registered in the past, and trying to login here: https://idp.wikimedia.org/login?service=https%3a%2f%2fhue.wikimedia.org%2fhue [17:39:06] I just did the "forgot password" option, but the temporary password emailed to me is not accepted. [17:40:28] Do you actually have access to hue? :) [17:40:37] Because this isn't technically a wikitech login issue [17:41:11] I would try getting your login to work on wikitech itself first [17:41:37] Wonders what hue even is [17:42:42] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hue_(software) [17:43:00] haley_: where are you entering the temporary password? afaik you can't use it on idp.wikimedia.org, only wikitech itself accepts it [17:44:58] ok, thank you. I mis-understood the log-ins. I was able to use the temporary password on Wikitech, then use my new password to sign into Hue. All working now, thanks!
