[11:20:38] Hello. Back in May DE and WMCS agreed to merge the functions of the two wikireplica hardware proxies, dbproxy1018 and dbproxy1019: as per https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/operations/puppet/+/779915 [11:22:48] This change is now merged, so the two hosts are ready to share the same traffic, but we haven't yet implemented it with confctl so there has not been any functional change yet. [11:23:54] I'd like to implement that change tomorrow if possible, by pooling the inactive hosts on these two services. [11:24:07] https://www.irccloud.com/pastebin/c05ytQdA/ [11:26:18] I think it should be just a no-op from a user perspective, but I thought it best to let you know and invite any comments ahead of any changes. [11:28:15] I'll also need to update Wikitech here to reflect the idea that both haproxy servers are now identical https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Portal:Data_Services/Admin/Wiki_Replicas#Physical_proxy_layer [11:28:44] btullis: would that still maintain the analytics/web separation? if not, that's not a no-op [11:30:47] taavi: Thanks. I think we're looking to remove the analytics/web separation, at least as far as haproxy traffic is concerned, so I'm also looking at what puppet changes are required to support that. I just noticed that there are more than I had first spotted. [11:33:31] But please do let me know if I've got the wrong end of the stick. I thought we were OK to make the configuraiton of these two servers identical to aid with maintenance like: T298940 [11:33:32] T298940: Reimage WMCS db proxies to Bullseye - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T298940 [11:35:37] I don't have any context on your previous discussions with wmcs folks, sorry :/ [11:35:57] in general it should be fine to mix up the two replica classes for short term maintenance, but not permanently [11:44:35] OK, thanks. Yes, I see that makes more sense now in terms of the reversed configuration in terms of haproxy primary/backup hosts. I guess this will just be a short term change then. [13:55:47] taavi: Hi. Can you please restart the SULWatchers? They're flooding -unifications with "not connected" messages [13:56:30] hauskatze: sure, done [14:04:10] ty :) [23:16:18] Bridgebot is duplicating messages on telegram again FYI bd808 [23:19:10] !log tools.bridgebot Double IRC messages to other bridges [23:19:13] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Tools.bridgebot/SAL [23:21:21] Thanks :)
