[06:00:55] Hi everyone...!! [06:00:56] How to transfer my backend nodejs files to my tool account? [06:04:50] https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Portal:Toolforge/Tool_Accounts#Manage_files_in_Toolforge ? (re @Ankit18gupta: Hi everyone...!! How would I go about starting that process? [21:02:15] Find a project you want to work on :) [21:02:28] [[mw:New Developers]] has some good starting points [21:02:38] Oh bot is still dead [21:03:15] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/New_Developers [21:03:28] Okay thank you for the help [21:03:39] I glossed over it but will give it more of a look [21:04:37] feel free to ask questions [21:04:39] any projects for mainly web development? Im fluent with reactjs and javascript, i've tried to focus on those instead of learning multiple languages at once. [21:06:43] We are starting to use Vue.js. There are also several microservices written in nodejs [21:07:15] but none of those are likely to show up as featured projects on [[mw:New Developers]] [21:07:33] Yeah I just went through the open projects, videocuttool seems to be the only project with primarily react and js [21:07:47] will reach out and contact them about getting started. Thanks for the help everybody [21:09:38] key47: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T276263 is marked as a good first task and on video cut tool [21:09:42] key47: Gopa is apparently not in this channel, but he's the leader on videocuttool and a generally nice person :) [21:10:26] https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/query/6tJ_Flw5Zd8Z/#R is a list of good first ones that are open and not being worked on for video cut tool [21:11:09] Just found the "good first issues" tag, will start looking [21:11:23] bd808: they don't seem to on irc ever. No libera account for them. [21:11:27] is there any contact info for Gopa? an email or something [21:11:46] key47: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:Gopavasanth [21:11:57] found it [21:11:58] thank you ! [21:12:47] RhinosF1: ah. yeah I could see how he may have never migrated last year when all things irc got weird [21:13:26] bd808: irc was always weird. Freenode just got too weird. [21:13:32] I think he is still active in https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Outreach_programs/Zulip [21:15:21] and yes IRC is always weird, but many folks had forgotten that whole networks come and go because Freenode had been stable for so long until it very rapidly became unstable and then a place that only trolls wanted to stay in [21:17:01] I just sent an email through the contact form, the amount of accounts to create just to reach the pages needed seems a bit excessive [21:17:19] are wikimedia, wikipedia, and mediawiki all connected? [21:18:12] yes [21:18:31] is there a version control system like github that hosts the source? [21:18:43] or is that system inhouse through phabricator [21:19:58] key47: Gerrit is our in-house git + code review tool for most things (including videocuttool) [21:20:10] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Gerrit [21:20:16] we're slowly migrating to self-hosted GitLab, but most projects are on Gerrit [21:20:33] Gerrit needs you to have a https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Developer_account [21:21:11] A developer account also gives the ability to access Phabricator, Cloud Services, and the Wikitech wiki [21:22:44] https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:VideoCutTool and https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/profile/4054/ have more info about that particular project [21:33:03] there's also https://developer.wikimedia.org if you've not seen it yet ^^ [21:39:24] TheresNoTime: you'd think I would think of dropping that link as one of the dev team for the new portal... :) [21:39:48] no comment :D [21:46:54] Really appreciate the help guys thank you
