I'm assuming it's because those two are running Debian 9, is that part of an automated process? I'm aiming to create two new nodes running Debian 11 and drain the old ones [16:17:47] to do that I need to turn on the old ones for a while, hence the question [16:20:05] are you volunteering to pick up the maintenance of deployment-prep? :-P [16:20:38] it's manual, if you need to temporarily power them back on for replacement it should be fine as long as T306068 is kept updated [16:20:38] T306068: Cloud VPS "deployment-prep" project Stretch deprecation - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T306068 [16:22:39] I see.... andrewbogott poweroff those two on Monday [16:23:04] and I guess somebody should deploy a new ms-fe instance as well [16:32:46] yet another WMCS newbie question... old deployment-ms-be instances are g2.cores8.ram16.disk160, closest thing available right now seems to be g3.cores8.ram16.disk20... what would be the way of closing the gap in terms of storage? [16:34:16] using cinder volumes [16:34:51] so just spawn the instance with a 20G root partition and attach a 140G volume, right? [16:35:00] yep :) [16:35:16] yep, https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Adding_Disk_Space_to_Cloud_VPS_instances#Cinder. I suspect those behave slightly differently than how LVM behaves which swift will surely not like [16:35:24] dcaro: thanks <3 and happy wikiversary BTW [16:35:27] as a side effect, you can carry over that volume to the next VM if/when you reimage [16:35:35] thanks! 🎉 [17:05:17] vgutierrez: thank you for doing deployment-prep maintenance!
