I agree with this concern too [15:45:05] !log tools.quickcategories deployed b06fded200 (update dependencies, Flask/Werkzeug 2.3) [15:45:09] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Tools.quickcategories/SAL [16:52:11] I'm getting read timeouts with requests after a certain number of successful ones via python (with my own unique UA) to whois referral. Is this a cloud policy, or a tool policy? (Because as soon as I change my UA i'm fine) [16:52:49] and I am observing at least 10 seconds in between requests [17:01:45] I'm still blocked using the same UA [17:10:35] I'm pretty sure that's still just upstream WHOIS being WHOIS [17:10:49] if it was based on your UA, it wouldn't be a timeout [17:14:58] AntiComposite: if I do it by hand, the tool works. if I change my UA, it works. I get a "Read timed out" error from requests [17:15:13] *python requests [17:16:12] doesn’t sound like a cloud/toolforge policy but I don’t see anything obvious in the tool’s code either [17:16:26] (the only thing it seems to do wrt user agents is to block anything yandex and otherwise print the header to uwsgi.log) [17:18:08] I just tried again and got another timeout [17:21:20] hmm, maybe my timeout is too low with whois being whois? [17:23:10] Yep, ok that is what it was. It was killing it before whois could get a response from the whois authority [17:23:39] ah ok ^^ [18:10:45] !log tools.pagepile-visual-filter deployed 66746376bb (update dependencies, Flask/Werkzeug 2.3) [18:10:48] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Tools.pagepile-visual-filter/SAL [18:18:34] !log tools.ranker deployed b9dfdfe2c4 (upgrade dependencies, Flask/Werkzeug 2.3) [18:18:36] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Tools.ranker/SAL
