[11:02:39] robertsky: arturo / dcaro might be able to help [12:01:16] robertsky: You can request a new project here https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Cloud_VPS_project#Request_a_new_Cloud_VPS_project, you can mention there what your timeline is. About the software, as long as it's open source should be ok. For the content you should review https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikitech:Cloud_Services_Terms_of_use, make sure you'll be following those (depends on what you want to do exactly) [12:13:59] !log deployment-prep switch floating IP from deployment-cache-text07 to deployment-cache-text08 (bullseye upgrade: T327742) [12:14:03] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Deployment-prep/SAL [12:14:03] T327742: Migrate deployment-prep away from Debian Buster to Bullseye/Bookworm - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T327742 [12:16:48] done [12:25:19] !log deployment-prep reverted floating IP switch [12:25:24] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Deployment-prep/SAL [12:29:38] fabfur: fyi TheresNoTime asked in #wikimedia-releng about downtime when you switched the IP [12:29:58] i believe the releng SAL is used more for deployment-prep [12:30:15] thanks, I'll join that chan too [12:41:49] !log deployment-prep switch floating IP from deployment-cache-text07 to deployment-cache-text08 (bullseye upgrade: T327742) (fix sec group) [12:41:53] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Deployment-prep/SAL [12:41:53] T327742: Migrate deployment-prep away from Debian Buster to Bullseye/Bookworm - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T327742 [12:43:10] ok first tests seems fine now [12:43:18] tnx vgutierrez :) [14:04:58] fabfur: np :) [15:11:52] MacFan4000: Sorry you had those problems. The possibility of instances breaking like that is one of the reasons that we discourage OS upgrades in favor of new instance builds. Another is that from the OpenStack level we really can't track the change so your project will eventually get false positive notices about needing to migrate to a newer OS version. Thanks for the follow ups. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T340439 [17:19:37] robertsky: do be aware that bulk sending from a brand new address or from an MX that likely will not have DKIM or SPF setup for the sender address may lead to a high rate of being marked as spam. [17:20:18] (bulk emailing is a real pain because of the amount of spam that exists in the modern internet) [17:47:07] bd808: I will be routing the email through wikimania.org's google workspace smtp relay service. That should take care of the emails being marked as spam. [17:48:13] wikimania.org has no mail records? [17:49:20] and it has an SPF policy to reject emails from anywhere (wikimania.org descriptive text "v=spf1 -all") [18:08:09] hmm... i am sorry. I kept thinking it is wikimania.org... >.< i am working out the details with lisa, who's from wmf and on the wikimania steering committee, to get an email address at wikimedia.org to use as the relay. [19:37:01] I hope not [19:37:31] How do we know who to ask when spam andre ? [19:37:42] if I was an admin I don't want to be pinged every single time there's spam. I'd rather de-adminify myself :) [19:37:48] dunno. why ask at all? [19:38:23] Same you'd do on irc, make sure user gone [19:42:55] Personally, it never made sense to me to ping random admin usernames on IRC because some folks spam random usernames on IRC. (However I'd very much agree if people were flooding channels.) [19:43:42] Q477067
