[03:35:53] I wonder how receptive people would be to https://anubis.techaro.lol/ for things like XTools that keep getting pushed over by scrapers [03:36:08] seems like a better idea than authwalling everything, but only barely [03:36:32] something like that would be awesome [03:38:29] I don't know if they are AI models in this case. I just see IPs from various paid VPN services with a very normal UA pounding away ~10 requests a sec, so it's quite hard to stop [03:38:49] IP hopping, I should mention. No common ranges or anything [03:42:36] i don't mind giving it a try as long as the real users are not impacted too much. It should introduce at most a slight but non-noticeable delay for real users. [15:46:50] Hi all! I'm trying to spin up a toolforge instance that does two things: [15:46:51] 1) runs a job on a monthly basis to ingest some data and put it into a postgresql database [15:46:51] 2) runs a webservice using python / flask [15:46:52] I've successfully built the image and have used the procfile template to run it, but I'm having a hard time loading in the data (specifically creating the postgres db). I'm following the container image help page (https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Toolforge/Building_container_images#Jobs) and running `toolforge jobs run --wait --image [15:46:52] --command "createdb geoeditors" create-db`, but this is failing. Any sense of what I can do differently? [16:00:23] HTriedman: are you installing Postgres inside the container image? have you considered using Trove instead? [16:03:20] you could also use a container shell to manually test different commands: https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Toolforge/Building_container_images#Can_I_get_an_interactive_shell_inside_my_container? [16:11:40] wm-bb I'm able to open the container shell but when I run a python repl there seem to be issues even starting postgres in the container [16:14:43] it's not common and generally not recommended to run Postgres like that, but it might still work if you find the right incantation... I would try with shell commands before using a python repl [16:15:13] or I would create a Postgres database in Trove that should be much easier:) [16:16:07] dhinus can you link to resources about trove? [16:16:28] https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Trove_database_user_guide [16:17:42] worth pointing out that as that page says, ToolsDB is recommended but it's only MariaDB. if you need Postgres, I think you have a valid reason to request Trove [23:10:31] !log lucaswerkmeister@tools-bastion-13 tools.lexeme-forms deployed d9516b6b1c (Quechua verb Wikifunctions) [23:10:34] Logged the message at https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Tools.lexeme-forms/SAL
