[02:02:42] [telegram] Hi everyone! The Hackathon is August 12-14, in just over 2 weeks! [02:02:43] [telegram] [02:02:45] [telegram] This is very important: to attend the Hackathon, you *must* register for Wikimania. [02:02:46] [telegram] [02:02:48] [telegram] You can optionally add your name to the participants list, but you don't have to. [02:02:49] [telegram] [02:02:51] [telegram] For this Hackathon, we will have a pre-hacking showcase to help find collaborators for projects. Come ready to share project ideas and find helpers! You can already list projects on Phabricator. [02:02:52] [telegram] [02:02:54] [telegram] Everyone is also welcome to host a technical or social session. Just claim a time on the schedule! [02:02:55] [telegram] [02:02:57] [telegram] As stated above, we will start sharing platform/Discord information soon. [02:02:58] [telegram] For now, you can find more information on the Wikimania Wiki. [02:03:00] [telegram] [02:03:01] [telegram] See you soon!! [02:03:24] [telegram] (You must register for Wikimania because that is how you will get access to the platform. It also has a privacy policy so we can record sessions this time.) [02:05:56] why does it require a first and last name [02:06:05] this is an online, Wikimedia conference [03:42:09] [telegram] Hi! You can write whatever you want. Personally, I would not use my real name, but it is up to you. That field is just what will display on the site. Sorry for the confusion! [09:25:11] [telegram] Thanks. I've completed mine. Is there going to an overview in the agenda during the week to give our communities information on why the platforms used were chosen? (re @haleywmf: (You must register for Wikimania because that is how you will get access to the platform. It also has a privacy policy so we can...) [13:28:24] [telegram] I will check on that. In the meantime, there is a blog post from the Wikimania organizers about it. My understanding is that the committee chose it for accessibility reasons- there had been complaints that previous (open source) platforms were not accessible to users with screen readers. We will use Jitsi for the video platform which is open source and has been used in the past. You can write whatever you want. Personally, I would not use my real name, but it is up to you. That field is just what will...) [14:29:05] [telegram] Ah yes- mononyms! I will share this feedback with the Wikimania COT. Sorry about this! [14:32:39] [telegram] From the organizers: a letter or a symbol is fine in the second name, if you use only one name. [14:37:39] [telegram] I've inspected his passport in person. it's XXXX for one of the names IIRC. then a year later we crossed an international border together but I think it was uneventful. [14:55:33] [telegram] I had/have that problem.... and haven't signed up yet because of it. there's an infinite number of possibilities of things that aren't my name to enter, and that is definitely enough to cause choice overload :P (re @haleywmf: Ah yes- mononyms! I will share this feedback with the Wikimania COT. Sorry about this!) [19:05:38] [telegram] Hello [19:06:39] [telegram] Welcome, Michael! :) (re @mbrandtner: Hello) [19:30:02] [telegram] trwikivoyage_p..web.db.svc.wikimedia.cloud unavailable? [19:35:49] that's not a valid hostname [19:39:48] [telegram] what is the correct one for wikivoyage? [19:44:02] no double dot in there, remove the _p suffix from the hostname [19:47:47] [telegram] trwikivoyage.web.db.svc.wikimedia.cloud does not work either [19:49:11] can you be more descriptive than 'does not work'? [19:50:53] [telegram] Trying to connect to trwikivoyage.web.db.svc.wikimedia.cloud causes the error [19:50:54] [telegram] [19:50:55] [telegram] Warning: mysqli_connect(): php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known in ... [19:55:41] works for me [19:56:57] show your code and where you're running it please? [19:59:55] [telegram] ok, fixed a typo. Thanks
