[08:28:31] i know it's a convention to use the `mw-` prefix for CSS classes in MediaWiki core. Should it be used in extensions as well? [08:30:14] damn, i should look things up before i ask. [[Manual:Coding conventions/CSS]] says to use `ext-extensionname-` [20:19:12] Is anyone aware of a regression regarding unified/renamed accounts on some wikis? [20:21:20] My SUL account was renamed from User:Waldir to User:Waldyrious a while ago. I just logged in on en.wikisource using the old username by mistake, and doing that seemed to have created a separate account (?!) [20:23:49] https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:CentralAuth/Waldir [20:24:09] https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Special:Log/Waldir says the account was created just a few minutes ago. But I just did a regular login, providing username and password, I'm certain I did not fill the account creation form (which has more fields than just username and password). [20:24:09] ah, it's foundation.wikimedia.org being joined to SUL that caused that [20:24:34] Wow [20:24:46] your foundationwiki account must have used the same password [20:24:46] So... any chance I could merge the accounts? [20:25:00] That's likely the case, yeah [20:25:39] Just confirmed, they indeed had the same password [20:25:56] unfortunately they can't be merged [20:26:28] because you have edits to enwikisource on both accounts [20:26:48] Argh :/ [20:27:41] And of course, the account cannot be deleted on wikisource because then the edits would be unattributed, right? [20:30:01] right [20:30:51] Is it possible to un-SUL an account on a single wiki? I.e., I'm wondering if I could un-SUL the User:Waldir account on wikisource and then ask for it to be renamed to User:WaldirOld or something, and then merge the (SUL) User:Waldir on foundation to my (also SUL) User:Waldyrious? [20:32:46] yes, we do have buttons for that, but I think the only steward willing to touch them is urbanecm, so I'd suggest asking them [20:35:09] Ok, will do! Thank you so much for the help :) [20:39:09] Btw, perhaps other editors in the same situation (an account in foundationwiki matching the old username of a renamed SUL account) should be warned now that foundationwiki is on SUL, since they would likely want to merge them too [20:43:14] most of them were handled already, it's just the people with non-matching usernames & (iirc) emails [20:47:14] notifications were sent out a year ago or so, but if they went to an email that you don't check, not much we can do about it [21:21:58] we don't do user merges anymore: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T216089 [21:24:36] you can attach local accounts to a central one but only if the name is identical, and I think the existence of a central account would block rename (if we even have rename for unattached accounts, not sure about that) [21:25:21] probably best you can do is ask for your foundationwiki permissions to be transferred to your new account [21:49:49] :( :( [22:56:27] Update: Thanks to brilliant wizardry by @urbanecm, the issue is basically solved! The empty foundationwiki account User:Waldyrious was renamed to User:Waldyrious~foundationwiki, and User:Waldir was moved to User:Waldyrious there and merged into the SUL account with the same name. I still messed up and created yet another User:Waldir account on foundationwiki (this time via the op [22:56:28] posite process, i.e. it ended up linked to the User:Waldir account on wikisource 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️), but at least this time I didn't make any edits with it. User:Waldir is now globally locked so I can't mess up again 😅 [22:57:18] Thank you all for the quick help!
