[09:32:18] What's the general guideline in creating Lua modules: I have a project that needs custom scripts for its purposes. Should I try to squeeze them all into one module as functions, or create separate modules, perhaps placed in a subcategory? [15:27:11] Is it possible to make an external API call in Lua and display the content? ChatGPT is just fabricating wrong advise 😃 [15:28:24] no [15:28:54] Oh ☚ī¸ [15:30:24] LOL, yeah some of the ChatGPT generated "guesses" at how to program is kind of weird/disturbing (re @Susannaanas: Is it possible to make an external API call in Lua and display the content? ChatGPT is just fabricating wrong advise 😃) [15:30:42] ie. it seems to have a very poor grasp of the methods of pywikibot, for example :) [15:31:10] I think it's using me to phish the correct answers 😃 (re @fuzheado: LOL, yeah some of the ChatGPT generated "guesses" at how to program is kind of weird/disturbing) [15:31:52] "My apologies, the mw.http library does not exist in MediaWiki by default" [15:33:00] Yeah, you don't need to go too far down the garden path before ChatGPT gets lost :) But I will say I have found it useful in cases where I'm not terribly sharp, and I can ask it, "Optimize this code..." or "Explain this code..." [15:34:01] I have found it useful but the inbuilt obfuscation filter is really also educative. [15:34:29] Honestly, I do think a productive output of a Hackathon (either Athens or SG) would be to have a session on "Hacking with ChatGPT: What is it good for?" and list a number of useful outcomes for Wikimedians - how good/bad is it for Lua hacking? Templates? pywikibot? SPARQL? [15:35:11] and even just wikimarkup - like can it debug a complex wikitable? [15:35:20] It also imagined some cool features for OpenRefine [15:35:51] Oh yes, I'd love to see some experimentation in trying out ChatGPT API to do a reconciliation service (re @Susannaanas: It also imagined some cool features for OpenRefine) [15:36:37] I mean it's kind of using a hammer to kill a fly, but it could be interesting. [15:37:11] For a non-coder, finding solutions by chatting is quite productive, debunking takes more time [17:28:47] Please do like our Twitter page for more information about Dagbani Wikipedia Saha, you can watch past episodes and wait for new episodes.
