We have units at the Smithsonian Institution with many textured and colored models waiting for Wikimedia (Commons or otherwise) to support the contribution of CC0 files. However, I am somewhat pessimistic after seeing how hard it is to get new file support into Commons, even though we have fixed one hurdle with the upgrade of Thumbor. But I welcome the conversation! ( [14:59:21] re @kristbaum: Is anyone at this years Hackathon in Tallinn interested in looking into T246901 as a hacking project? I'm sadly not there this y...) [15:04:42] Any kind of progress in this direction would be great. Many museums are starting to throw money into building their own solutions. [15:04:43] If e.g Commons could provide that functionality early, with the possibility to include it into museums webpages, it would be a great incentive to license them more freely. [15:06:23] Reading that Phab ticket again did surface the Shellbox project which I didn't know about, so that was useful to see - https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Shellbox (re @kristbaum: Any kind of progress in this direction would be great. I accepted the fingerprint [15:56:52] Thanks @malyacko [17:20:09] @nokibsarkar: there was an email about the change sent to the cloud-announce@lists.wikimedia.org mailing list too. If you do not already subscribe to that list, please consider doing so. The Toolforge and Cloud VPS admins basically expect that posting there will reach everyone. https://lists.wikimedia.org/hyperkitty/list/cloud-announce@lists.wikimedia.org/thread/UAMLGQ42CVHLRZ5W2CZBJDJFRNSBT4DC/ [17:20:35] FYI: for those interested in mediawiki tech conferences, there is a MW conference going on right now, with a livestream at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xEe6YqdEro [21:40:52] Does anyone have contact details for Ivo Kruusamägi ? [22:06:52] 👋Hi all! I sent an email to this year's participants yesterday and wanted to follow up here to see if there are any questions! [22:06:52] *To highlight the cool stuff:* [22:06:54] The Hackathon schedule (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2024/Program#Daily_Program) is now live with dedicated blocks for sessions in three rooms. All scheduled sessions will need to have an associated Phabricator task (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/project/board/6865/) with a description linked to in the program schedule. We now have 28 projects active on [22:06:55] the board and we also have two focused project tracks - New Engagement Experiments (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2024/New_Engagement_Experiments) and MediaWiki Track (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2024/MediaWiki_Track) _(this page is still in a slightly draft form)_. If you're still pondering what to work on - check out our project page [22:06:57] (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Hackathon_2024/Projects#Project_Focus_Areas)!
