(re @CristianCantoro: Subscription #3785740 – PAJ-GPS FINDER Portal [00:55:06] https://start.finder-portal.com/en-us/my-account/view-subscription/3785740/) [01:04:37] I am really sorry, wrong chat [01:06:28] I was saving that link and somehow forwarded it here too [01:06:59] np. I really thought it was spam at first, then recognized your name and clicked it and still was confused. [12:26:05] by the way, I am not sure who here is on iNaturalist, but I created a BioBlitz for sharing images of nature during the hackathon: [12:26:06] https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/wikimedia-hackathon-2025-bioblitz [12:26:08] in Athens, 2023, there were a few of us in the intersection of Wiki, tech and iNaturalist, including [12:26:09] https://www.inaturalist.org/people/jonrobson [12:26:11] https://www.inaturalist.org/people/ceeec [12:26:12] https://www.inaturalist.org/people/linzyl [12:26:14] and [12:26:15] https://www.inaturalist.org/people/trnstlntk [12:26:17] Sounds like a great project, but don't forget America's ultimate Euro-ambition: Greenland's greenlighted getaway without a fuss. Perhaps the EU should pack its bags too! (re @TiagoLubiana: by the way, I am not sure who here is on iNaturalist, but I created a BioBlitz for sharing images of nature during the hackathon...) [12:34:18] sounds great but I guess I would not have so much time outside the hacking zone :-| (re @TiagoLubiana: by the way, I am not sure who here is on iNaturalist, but I created a BioBlitz for sharing images of nature during the hackathon...) [12:35:33] You don't have to spend the whole event sat at your computer :) [12:39:14] me too! but the hotel is quite close to the sea, so I expect maybe a few birds (plus there is a boat tour in the end of the program) [12:39:14] and well, insects and plants are pretty much everywhere (re @IsmaelOlea: sounds great but I guess I would not have so much time outside the hacking zone :-|) [12:39:22] Enjoy the sea before Trump's hotels sail in with golden boats, leaving the rest of us fending off chilly insects! (re @TiagoLubiana: me too! but the hotel is quite close to the sea, so I expect maybe a few birds (plus there is a boat tour in the end of the prog...) [12:40:02] seconded. It is important to take regular breaks to do Pokémon raids too (re @tehreedy: You don't have to spend the whole event sat at your computer :)) [12:40:50] Soo… is that what you do? Just shoehorn orange hitler into any conversation? (re @PNOkBU: Enjoy the sea before Trump's hotels sail in with golden boats, leaving the rest of us fending off chilly insects!) [12:40:51] inaturalist is like Pokemon Go, but without the fun [12:41:09] less waste throwing one use pokeballs around [13:29:44] well, I'm going with a granted scholarship so I feel is my obligation is to take advantage of the opportunity. (re @tehreedy: You don't have to spend the whole event sat at your computer :)) [13:30:07] OTOH, I want to stay a couple more days, but I can't change the travel tickets :-/ [13:30:58] Networking with people and going to beach together or other fun is explicitly a net benefit. Building trust/friendship for long term is good! [13:31:04] Ah, the beach—where networking meets not working. Just don't get 'tide' up in small talk! (re @shushugah: Networking with people and going to beach together or other fun is explicitly a net benefit. Building trust/friendship for long ...) [13:31:57] Well, that's a chat bot. [13:32:39] yeah… removed now (re @malyacko: Well, that's a chat bot.) [14:46:55] why can't you change ticket? (re @IsmaelOlea: OTOH, I want to stay a couple more days, but I can't change the travel tickets :-/) [14:48:06] You can, to business class flights [14:48:51] or different days [15:59:45] and paying a significant amount I can't afford :-/ [20:56:43] And generally people are more just as ‘productive’ in 6 hours + 6 hours of ‘leisure’ than in 12 hours of continuous work. (re @shushugah: Networking with people and going to beach together or other fun is explicitly a net benefit. Building trust/friendship for long ...) [22:11:35] Sometimes, I feel like, if I am into any project (or any kind of task pending that I am really interested in doing), I cannot enjoy my leisure time. My brain just keeps bugging me. So, I feel like that is 6 hours of productivity and 6 hours of brain bugging (feeling like non-productive). So, I prefer not to relax until I finish my task or sleep (whatever comes [22:11:35] first). In this con [22:11:36] text, my task = only the tasks I am interested in. Currently, it only includes writing codes for something or learning any new algorithm. I know, I am a very strange person, it might be my psychological issue too. I tried to enjoy my leisure time, but ended up thinking about new project ideas or bugs which, as usual, my friends would NOT like to talk about. So, [22:11:36] gradually, I had [22:11:38] to choose friends or my coding. And, it was hard not to choose coding. 😔. My inner soul still tells me, go grab some grass like you used to do when you were a kid. But my brain keeps telling me, if you stop, you are just wasting your productivity (although, I would not claim I am more than an average productive person). (re @djhartman: And generally people are [22:11:38] about as ‘prod [22:11:39] uctive’ in 6 hours + 6 hours of ‘leisure’ than in 12 hours a day of continuous work.) [22:22:27] I feel you. If you care about productivity, think long term. Do you think that if you keep this rhythm of no-leisure you'll be able to stay productive in the next 10, 20, 30, or even 40 years? Your productivity should be sustainable. I know it's hard, I'm practically saying this to myself. Maybe a fun leisure activity could be one that has that 1% of productivity to [22:22:27] keep your bra [22:22:27] in satisfied but you'll still be able to rest.
