[21:50:37] is there detailed documentation somewhere for how the prop=imageinfo iiurlwidth/iiurlheight params and thumbwidth/thumbheight / thumbattribs+width/height response values are supposed to be used and what the expected behavior is? [21:51:14] the limited documentation at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Imageinfo doesn’t seem to match the behavior I’m actually seeing, but I can’t tell if that’s because nobody updated the documentation or because the API is buggy 😐 [23:38:07] both [23:39:42] with the recentish changes to allowable thumbnails, imageinfo doesn't do what it used to, and the WMF attitude has pretty much been "we have altered the deal. pray we do not alter it any further" [23:41:02] thumbnails now have to be on the list of allowed thumbnail sizes. The imageinfo API may or may not round up for you depending on the parameters you use. [23:50:10] it seems to be rounding *down* in some cases, which is contrary to what the “since T360589” additional notes on that page say (unless I’m confused) [23:51:17] ah, my bad, looks like that’s because I was specifying both iiurlwidth and iiurlheight [23:52:48] the other confusing part is that the API just seems to lie about the size of the “thumb” – compare what [23:52:48] https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&titles=File:Button%20small%202.png&prop=imageinfo&iiprop=url&iiurlheight=250&format=json&formatversion=2 and [23:52:50] https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&titles=File:Button%20small%202.png&prop=imageinfo&iiprop=url&iiurlwidth=250&iiurlheight=250&format=json&formatversion=2 say about the same URL (which is an original, in the event, because this is a tiny image)
