[13:44:03] Does anyone have much memory of any history around our use of URL hashing in thumbor (https://thumbor.readthedocs.io/en/latest/security.html)? We configure thumbor with thumbor.key (which is generated per-host by the apt post-install) and I needed to write some workaround stuff to make that work in k8s. But the more I looked into it, I got curious about whether we ever used it - the fact the [13:44:09] key is different for each thumbor host and we use our /(wikipedia|wikisource|...)/ URLs via swift in the first place makes me think we don't. [14:19:49] I am afraid I do not remember much about this [14:33:30] I kiiinda half suspect it was enabled because we had the key lying around and figured why not enable it but I could be wildly off. It's been enabled since 2016 when it first showed up in puppet [14:34:19] anyway, I have a workaround to get us similar behaviour in k8s here https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/operations/software/thumbor-plugins/+/851608 we can remove it at a later point if it turns out we don't need/use it [14:57:08] I have no memory of that either [15:09:24] cc godog if any of the above rings a bell :) Your name is on the commit but I see it's a migration from whatever thumbor used pre-puppet [15:22:39] 10serviceops, 10RESTBase, 10Wikipedia-iOS-App-Backlog, 10iOS-app-feature-Performance, and 3 others: PCS caching and pregeneration when restbase is decommissioned - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T319365 (10Dbrant) [15:25:41] hnowlan: mmhh no I don't remember offhand, I'd guess it is required but otherwise unused in our env [15:30:05] no worries, thanks! [15:34:05] either way, makes sense to continue on with it as it was. Based on my reading of things changing the keys often won't cause any further breakage [15:50:02] 10serviceops, 10Prod-Kubernetes, 10Kubernetes: Migrate from command line flags to config files for kubernetes components - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T300499 (10JMeybohm) a:03JMeybohm [16:24:40] *nod* thanks for taking a look [16:41:12] 10serviceops, 10Growth-Team, 10Notifications, 10SRE, 10Wikimedia-production-error: Failed to fetch API response from {wiki}.
