[11:51:44] fyi all, i have sent a patch to create a alert manager team route for I/F alerts https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/operations/puppet/+/902691/1 [11:52:20] currently no alerts are tagged as I/F however there are plans to automaticaly tag certain checks based on the services ownber e.g. disk space [11:53:45] the change would mean that all alerts taged i/f would get posted to this channle. futher anything taged page or critical will also use the current routes i.e. page sre and post to #w-operations please please coment if you would like some different behaviour [12:05:44] I guess there is a risk of siloing? [12:06:08] depending on which alerts are routed to here only [12:27:46] here only would be warnings [12:53:36] that sounds good to me, I think we should continue to post all alerts to -operations, though? [12:54:04] I mean often the alerts are side effects of one's work (let's say I update openssl and then something in analytics breaks as hyppthetical example) [12:54:36] would be good to still have one central place which has it all (and the team-specific alerts for more focused attention) [13:43:25] the way the change currently stands it means that what gets sent to #w-operations wont change (warnings dont go there currently) but it will mean that more alerts will start getting ;osted here as well [13:44:40] *including warings [13:59:12] that sounds good to me, then :-) [14:00:37] ack ill enable it now. for now i dont think we will get anything asnothing is explicitly taged I/F (AFAIK) but that may change in the commings days [14:00:52] further if we find warnings are too spammy then we can drop them [15:06:30] 10netbox, 10DC-Ops, 10Infrastructure-Foundations, 10Observability-Alerting, 10SRE Observability (FY2022/2023-Q3): validate what we need from the check_eth check - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T333007 (10jbond) [23:15:36] 10netops, 10DC-Ops, 10Infrastructure-Foundations, 10SRE, 10ops-eqiad: Q2:(Need By: TBD) Rows E/F network racking task - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T292095 (10Papaul)
