[20:46:12] https://tools-static.wmflabs.org/bridgebot/47459d12/urdu_verb.js [20:47:28] I am specifically trying to figure out how to adapt a JavaScript function like this one to WikiFunctions—it returns an array of 40 verb forms based on the first one (re @bgo_eiu: What are some good examples of a JavaScript WikiFunction?) [21:10:39] lucas was adapting my german functions the other day, you might want to look at those [21:15:06] he basically created functions for each type of transformation that happens, and then you'd have an array of functions to call [21:33:09] + at the moment lists are not supported as input/output types either [21:34:12] I was looking at those but it seems like a lot of functions to make for one template [21:34:12] I attempted creating a function with 2 parameters, with the first being the index of the array so that it outputs a string but haven't had any luck with that [21:38:22] https://www.wikifunctions.org/view/ur/Z11823 [21:47:27] I find the page for editing function labels confusing [21:48:45] it took me quite a while to figure out that it's even possible to translate function inputs, and I don't want to be scrolling up and down constantly in order to translate something [21:50:45] and the fields are so narrow... [21:53:42] having the types only shown for the first one particularly makes it hard for me to identify the corresponding fields for those, because the structure of the sections doesn't match [21:58:41] look at all that unused space 😐 : https://tools-static.wmflabs.org/bridgebot/c8aacd75/file_54432.jpg [22:16:47] there's enough space to display everything on that page, in fact. this is what I get if I set the language boxes to display: inline-block and make the label go below the type, without changing any sizes : https://tools-static.wmflabs.org/bridgebot/5c6bd8c3/file_54433.jpg [23:49:04] @Nikki Thanks for the feedback, and especially thanks for the examples of *why* it's confusing, and the demonstration-images! Those are very helpful details. (Plus, I'm a prolific skin-customizer, often with the intent to reduce whitespace, so I empathize deeply. But I also grok how overwhelming "info-dense UIs" can be for newcomers, so I don't always push for it!) [23:49:04] I'll make sure the team/designer has seen this. (Though it would also need to scale beyond 3-4 languages (or 2 in vector-2022 at default width) at which point either we're doing a horizontal-scroll (nope nope nope!) or back to having misaligned fields... So it may need additional thought and alternative solutions.)
