[01:54:55] I've written a userscript that allows you to view the article preview of an abstract article in a full tab by pressing alt+o ([[abstract:User:Feeglgeef/articlePreviewPopup.js]]). I'm hoping that this will eventually be built in (a button to view the preview larger), but it isn't right now, and it's useful to be able to tell what the page will actually look like in [01:54:56] full-screen. [01:55:48] Especially with infoboxes and images whenever we get those (re @Feeglgeef: I've written a userscript that allows you to view the article preview of an abstract article in a full tab by pressing alt+o ([[...) [06:33:15] How do you purge a cached [[Z576]] error? [06:33:33] or, Z576 [06:40:18] It's unlikely to resolve unless you can make the implementation markedly simpler (e.g. possibly you could split a full paragraph call into individual sentence calls). What's your application? We may be more help if we know what's failing. [06:54:45] I was poking at Z29842, manually entering Z27248's arguments to see if test case failures were related to changes on Wikidata. Swapping out Q1860 for Q44679 made it evaluate just fine, which makes me think the failure for English was a transient error. (re @u99of9: It's unlikely to resolve unless you can make the implementation markedly simpler (e.g. possibly you [06:54:45] could split a full paragraph...) [06:58:56] (I did at least partially resolve the problem on the Wikidata side, but now I also don't know how to purge cache for successful function evaluations to fetch fresh data from Wikidata.) [07:43:43] @vrandecic it's been a while, but I'd like to pitch another function of the week: [[Wikifunctions:Function_of_the_Week/submissions#Function_of_the_Week%3A_main_articles]]. Others, feel free to spruce it up. [07:58:36] Strictly speaking, that’s not currently possible. A cached fetch from Wikidata expires after 24 hours. It may be possible to verify your change before then by trying a different fetch function, but it is the actual built-in fetch used that needs to be different, or to make a different call. (re @bb010g: (I did at least partially resolve the problem on the Wikidata side, [07:58:36] but now [07:58:37] I also don't know how to purge cache for successful ...) [16:18:00] Is it possible to implement this in Python/JavaScript for speed reasons? If so, it'd be nice to have that done before a feature. Otherwise it looks good to me. [16:18:38] Speaking of which, it looks like we have something that works at Z26038 (re @Feeglgeef: Especially with infoboxes and images whenever we get those) [16:19:25] Speaking of which, looks like images work at Z36038 (re @Feeglgeef: Especially with infoboxes and images whenever we get those) [16:38:24] On Z36048: why can't I use figures and figcaptions? [16:38:47] I'm not sure how I'm supposed to display images without them in a Wikipedia-y way. [18:36:18] Hello! I see you saw the images appear. I am working on documentation pages that describe the feature including its current limitations. Based on that welcome feature requests of course😃 [18:36:19] (Also we are expecting a baby any day now and i hoping to get the docs done tomorrow) [18:49:56] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Wikifunctions/Images (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Wikifunctions/Images) [18:49:56] Here is the Draft. Hopefully will clear up some initial questions [18:51:16] Ah, so it's already a figure, but captions are not supported. I see. (re @daphnesmit1986: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Wikifunctions/Images [18:51:17] Here is the Draft. Hopefully will clear up some initial questions) [23:02:08] I don't think so. It needs to fetch labels from Wikidata. So, until code implementations can call other functions, I think this is best as a composition. (re @Feeglgeef: Is it possible to implement this in Python/JavaScript for speed reasons? If so, it'd be nice to have that done before a feature....) [23:13:10] Great work! This is really important, I look forward to using it. (re @daphnesmit1986: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Wikifunctions/Images [23:13:10] Here is the Draft.
