I don't know what happened because on the west coast we have 3 hour tape delay. [05:04:09] It dropped lol [05:04:10] <.labster> Hail President Agent [05:04:16] I wonder if we should've made the RfC close at 00:00 UTC [05:04:44] <.labster> No, no, it's symbolic because Owen and I both dropped the ball. [05:04:44] I suspended voting via a notice on the RfC [05:04:51] but didn't close as that's a steward thing [05:05:18] Up to Void now to determine consensus [05:05:24] I wonder who won [05:06:02] let me reformat... (Vietnam is 12 hours ahead of NYC) [07:44:03] hey [07:44:51] @agentisai I applied for a wikipedia [07:45:00] 2 of them, but they never got approved or any follow up [07:51:46] Volunteers are currently on NYE holidays, patience is appreciated. Wishing you a happy 2024! [16:38:48] [1/2] Well, looks like I will soon be a member of WikiTide, based on the latest vote regarding Mirahaze's fate 😛 [16:38:48] [2/2] (I voted for the merger with WikiTide too) [16:43:10] [1/2] You mean a wiki... [16:43:10] [2/2] Anyway, best wishes to you! [16:43:54] [1/2] It depend... [16:43:55] [2/2] There still going to be more RfCs to determine what to do next [18:41:32] Heya [19:26:43] Next steps are actually largely legal and between the respective boards, then a lot of technical SRE work. RfCs aren't part of the next phase just yet. [19:27:52] I see, thanks for the head up [19:46:12] what is this about? what type of merge is happening? [19:47:56] Also regarding the terms of service, if i were to have my work on the wiki on an outside source as well (like a page having been made in another blog/wiki etc), would it be a violation against the rules? Can I in the parrarel of the wiki have it hosted in a person website per say? Or is that a no [19:49:02] If you are the originator of the content, you are free to do so. [19:49:34] What do you mean originator of the content? [19:49:59] Me composing it in the wiki and not another admin right? [19:50:00] If it's your work, you're free to do that. If it's someone else's work that's under a specific license, you need to abide by that license. [19:50:12] Aye [19:50:26] thanks for the clarifications [19:50:44] Most licenses are pretty permissive and it's fine to do so as long as attribution is provided,. [19:52:31] Yeah I will check for licenses before siting sources [19:53:24] [1/2] Regarding what's coming up re: merger, Miraheze (another not-for-profit wiki host) recently held an RfC to decide on handover of services from the group currently operating it to a new party. WT was one of the parties under consideration and the RfC has concluded with us leading the vote. [19:53:24] [2/2] WikiTide users won't notice any immediate changes to operation, as the next steps will take some time to pull off. Rest assured your wikis will stay at the same URL and will receive the same quality of service (and hopefully better as our tech team expands through this merger). [19:53:55] More to be announced when there's stuff worth announcing on that front. 🙂 [19:54:08] So we will get more features/share features with Miraheze? [19:54:37] I have heard of Miraheze before and used it, will there be a change in branding? [19:55:03] Again, TBD, we'll make an announcement ahead of major changes. [19:55:19] Alright, thanks for the information [19:55:24] But right now begins the phase of a lot of legal and technical stuff. 🙂 [19:55:34] Yeah, boring stuff womp womp [19:56:04] It's fun if your idea of fun is preparing agreements [19:56:36] fair point [19:56:42] not my cup of tea personally [19:56:48] It's not many people's idea of fun, for what it's worth [19:57:21] is it your's idea of fun? [21:40:00] will miraheze stewards have perms on wikitide wikis? [21:45:41] The distinction is moot at the moment, but stewards will eventually oversee the combined set of wikis, yes.
